At Token2049, Eric Trump — co-founder of the plutocratic crypto venture whose stablecoin conveniently bolsters demand for his father’s $40 trillion in government debt — explained that the AI boom depressing crypto prices will, in fact, be crypto’s greatest saviour, because money “cycles between the two,” in the digital gulag his plutocratic friends are building. This is the tautology of a man who profits whichever way it flows. Tokenizing yachts and art, he declared, is “philanthropic” — charity redefined as selling fractions of luxury assets to the public. Then, having spent the week denouncing banks, the President’s son declared total “victory” over them from a stage in Singapore.

At the same time, the IMF, that tireless guardian of the financial order it helped build, has issued its fourth warning in a year that tokenization — the Wall Street buzzword for putting stocks, bonds, and repos on a blockchain — could “amplify financial risks,” which is a remarkable thing to discover about a technology the same institutions are racing to adopt. The Fund found that tokenized equities are 1.5 times more volatile and significantly less liquid than the real thing, that 80% of trades involve less than a single share, and that greater interconnectedness and leverage could produce “fire sales, liquidity runs and contagion” — which is to say, everything the 2008 crisis was made of, now available 24/7 with no market close to stop the bleeding.

The genius is that the warning changes nothing: tokenized repos already clear $300-350 billion a day, BlackRock and JPMorgan are building the rails, and the IMF’s considered recommendation is not to stop but to add “clearer frameworks” and “safeguards” — the regulatory equivalent of installing a smoke detector in a building already doused in petrol. Systemic risk is “limited,” the Fund reassures, “because adoption is still small” — the four most expensive words in finance.

The Ministry of Fuel Abundance has an electoral miracle to announce, timed with the precision of a man whose approval rating is bleeding out one diesel pump at a time: less than a month before the midterms, the Manipulator-in-Chief posted on Truth Social —…
Donald Copperfield announced on Truth Social that Tsar Vladimir had agreed to release 300,000 tons of diesel immediately, 500,000 in November and a million “immediately thereafter” — oil duly dropped, headlines duly celebrated, and the deal lasted precisely as long as it took for Ukrainian drones to set the NZNP Rostovsky products terminal. Rostov-on-Don handles up to 3.5 million tonnes a year of refined product; the Novoshakhtinsk refinery ships through it. One does not need a Chatham House fellowship to notice that Washington’s pledged diesel and Kyiv’s target list are the same barrels. The favourite detail is the sequencing: the President negotiated the supply, then his client incinerated it, within hours. Meanwhile Moscow’s own export ban remains, Hormuz remains unhelpful, and the G7 is rummaging in the emergency cupboard for crude and distillate it will have to buy back later.

A promise of diesel is not diesel — and a terminal on fire does not read Truth Social.
The Ministry of Regional Security has a minor aviation disruption to note: Houthi ballistic missiles struck Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport again, Terminal 3 taking a direct hit, floors smeared with blood, dozens of ambulances, hundreds of flights cancelled — the latest in a week of barrages Saudi air defences keep failing to intercept. The kingdom’s chief concern, per the royal reporting, is that the strikes may “choke off business travel” before the Future Investment Initiative — the Davos-in-the-desert gathering of the global elite, still scheduled for October 26 at a venue nobody will relocate. Six years of bombing Yemen produced an adversary firing missiles into the capital’s airport at will.

When the barbarians you bombed into submission are now landing ballistic missiles on your flagship airport the week before your billionaire summit, the war wasn’t won — it simply relocated to the arrivals terminal.

Twenty-four hours after announcing that Tsar Vladimir would gift the world a million tons of diesel, and roughly twelve hours after Ukrainian drones torched the Rostov products terminal, in probably one of his best recommendation ever, The Manipulator In Chief offered Kyiv some electoral advice: “The time has come for a new president to appear in Ukraine... I suggest that Ukraine choose a new leader who can make a deal.” The Malthusian Dancer on High Heels from Kyiv, apparently, “never makes deals” — a complaint from a man whose own deal went up in flames before the ink dried. Donald Copperfield added that Washington had warned Kyiv off striking refineries, that Kyiv struck them anyway, and that American farmers and livestock breeders would pay for it.
The Cokehead Dancer’s usefulness expired the moment he began destroying the asset his patron had just promised to sell. Four years of moral clarity, settled by a diesel invoice.
A few hours later, Donald Copperfield declared it on Truth Social in capital letters: “Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE... Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!” One of the agreeing parties told Axios it was “news to me” and asked, reasonably, when the ceasefire begins. By evening a Shahed had hit a Kyiv power plant, Kharkiv’s generation was struck again, and the mayor was suggesting residents leave the capital for a while. The Dancer on High Heels from Kyiv counts more than 200 strikes on the grid in a week, seventeen on oil and gas, over 150 dead. This is the second energy ceasefire The Peace Maker In Chief has announced; the September edition expired before the press release cooled. Meanwhile the FT reports Washington is threatening to suspend the PURL weapons pipeline and intelligence sharing unless Kyiv stops burning Russian refineries.

The conclusion is straightforward: this is not peacemaking. It is distillate inventory management with a flag draped over it.
US Existing home sales rose 1.5% in September against an expected decline, which the bulls will file under resilience and everyone with a modicum of common-sense files under rounding. August was quietly revised to -3.2% from -2.0%, the annualised pace remains below four million, and the reality is that August and September were the two slowest months of the year — with Q4 closings set to fall “possibly measurably.” Mortgage rates have climbed more than half a point since early September to 7.49%, courtesy of the same long end that just cleared thirty-year paper at 5.618%. Realtor.com calculates that five weeks of repricing removed 6% of purchasing power, a “$19,000 shock” for anyone with a $2,000 monthly budget. Inventory is 1.6 million, up 4.6% on the year — 4.8 months of supply, the highest in over a decade.
So, sellers are finally arriving, buyers cannot qualify, and the lock-in effect has stopped thawing because the spread to homeowners’ existing rates is back near record wides.
China’s factory gate prices jumped 5% year-on-year in September, the fastest since 2022 and well above estimates, while CPI managed 0.9% and core clung to 1% for a second month. Beijing’s economists call this “gradually moving away from deflationary pressures.” The Macro Butler calls it imported cost-push: Brent is up more than 70% this year as the US-Iran war does its work, gasoline alone contributed half a point to CPI, and the chip shortage born of AI mania is lifting electronics prices. Strip out crude and semiconductors and the domestic economy remains as deflationary as it was in June. The squeeze is now visible in the accounts — industrial profits are growing at the weakest pace all year, because Chinese manufacturers can buy dearer copper and oil but cannot make anyone pay more for the finished goods.
When the factory pays more and the shopper pays the same, the factory is not recovering — it is being slowly eaten.

The Ministry of Strategic Clarity has a bold new proposal for world peace: retired Lt. General Keith Kellogg — neocon, former Ukraine envoy — advises that the Cokehead from Kyiv defy Donald Copperfield and destroy every refinery in Russia, a plan offered with the serene confidence of a man who has never once consulted a grain-export table. The inconvenient arithmetic goes unmentioned: Russia is the world’s second-largest diesel exporter, its exports already down 60% from drone strikes, US stocks at their lowest September since 1982 — and Africa, the Middle East, and a wholly-dependent Iran take over 80% of Russia’s wheat. So, the plan to “isolate Moscow” would in fact starve Cairo and Tehran, send diesel to $8, halt global food logistics, and — because war is fuel-intensive — make NATO’s own tanks unaffordable to run.
