The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) is a philanthropic foundation created and run by members of the Rockefeller family.

John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his four sons: Nelson, Laurance, Winthrop, and David. Its primary purpose is to support and promote social change, with a focus on issues related to democracy, global development, and environmental sustainability.

It's purpose is amongst others to

Advance Global Development: Foster sustainable development and economic equity, with particular attention to issues like poverty reduction and human rights.

Support Environmental Sustainability: Address climate change and environmental degradation through various initiatives that promote sustainable practices and policies.

Grantmaking: The RBF provides grants to various nonprofit organizations, projects, and initiatives that align with its mission. The grantmaking process involves identifying and evaluating potential grantees, assessing their alignment with the Fund’s goals, and providing financial support.

Funding Sources
The primary funding for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund comes from its endowment, which was established by the original Rockefeller family contributions. The endowment is invested to generate returns, and these returns are used to finance the Fund’s operations and grantmaking activities. The RBF’s endowment is managed with the goal of ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of the organization’s philanthropic efforts.
