📆❗️ Main events of January-February 2024


🔴🇧🇩 January 7 – elections in Bangladesh, former leader Sheikh Hasina, supported by India and China, is expected to win. Russia has also established constructive, mutually beneficial relations with Bangladesh.
The Biden administration is putting pressure on Dhaka. Sanctions are possible.

🔴🇹🇼 January 13 – elections of the President of Taiwan and the island’s parliament

🔴 January 15-19 – participation of Prime Minister Li Qiang in the forum in Davos. Significant and second appearance of Li Qiang in the EU. Russia will not participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which will be held in Davos, Switzerland.

🔴🇦🇿 February 7 – presidential elections in Azerbaijan. Aliyev is adopting Erdogan’s tactics and at the same time trying to block Iran.

🔴🇵🇰 February 8 – parliamentary elections in Pakistan, which will determine the schedule for the election of the country’s leader.

🐲🎊 On the night of February 9 to 10 - Lunar New Year - “Spring Festival” in China (Chinese New Year). Public holidays in China will last from February 10 to 17 – February 18 is the first working day.

🔴🇮🇩 February 14 – presidential elections in Indonesia. Incumbent President Widodo cannot run for a third term. The more pro-Western candidate is Anies Baswedan; the other two candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo, have close contacts with China.

In addition, in 2024, presidents and parliaments will be elected in more than 50 countries:

🔴 the largest elections in 2024 will be held in 🇮🇳 India - 945 million people will be able to participate in them (April-May).

🔴elections will be held in four BRICS countries - 🇷🇺 Russia (March), 🇿🇦 South Africa (date not yet set), India and 🇮🇷 Iran (March) - 1238 million people live in them.

🔴most countries will participate in the 🇪🇺 EU in the elections to the new European Parliament (June) - 27 states with a population of 447 million.

🔴presidential or parliamentary elections will be held separately in EU countries - Austria, Belgium, Lithuania, Slovakia, Portugal, Romania, Croatia and Finland.

🔴Elections will be held in 🇺🇸USA (November), 🇰🇷South Korea (April), 🇲🇽Mexico (June) and 🇮🇩Indonesia (February).
