Nintendo Buys Studio That Ported Hogwarts Legacy, Shiver Entertainment

Nintendo has announced the acquisition of Shiver Entertainment, known for porting games like "Hogwarts Legacy" and "Mortal Kombat 1," from Embracer Group. Shiver will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nintendo. This acquisition aims to enhance Nintendo's capabilities in porting and developing software. Despite the acquisition, Shiver will continue its multi-platform development focus, including for the Nintendo Switch. This is Nintendo's first studio acquisition since buying Next Level Games in 2021.

Hypernova, the studio behind Mayanagari, has reportedly shut down

Hypernova Interactive, the Bangalore-based studio behind the Indian-themed gangster game Mayanagari, has reportedly shut down due to high development costs and inability to secure funding, as shared by games market analyst Rishi Alwani. However, co-founder Mayur Bhimjiyani hinted that more is to come, leaving some uncertainty. Despite reports of one co-founder moving to a new project and employee layoffs, the game remains available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store, and official confirmation is awaited.
