WhatsApp is developing a new premium subscription plan for the standard consumer app that will offer users extra features in exchange for a monthly fee.

WhatsApp Plus will offer new customization options to change the app theme and icon. These include 14 new icons and multiple color choices. Users will be able to pin up to 20 chats instead of just three. A set of exclusive ringtones will be offered only to subscribers.

WhatsApp Plus is expected to include even more features over time. For example, subscribers will access to exclusive stickers and more immersive message interactions.

WhatsApp Plus will be completely optional. Access to private messaging and all core features will remain completely free. WhatsApp Plus is designed to offer additional customization and convenience features for users who want them, without restricting or limiting the free experience.
