The United States does not support any separatist project in Syria, and what Hikmat al-Hijri is promoting is mere delusion.

My recent visit to Washington included extensive meetings with officials in Congress, the White House, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and the Atlantic Council, where we discussed developments in Syria in general and in Suwaida in particular.

The discussions focused on supporting the Syrian state in establishing the rule of law and addressing the violations and obstacles that have hindered the work of state institutions in recent years, in addition to issues related to militias involved in drug trafficking.

The US administration affirmed during the meetings that its policy toward Syria is based on the unity of Syrian territory and that it does not support any party working to divide the country or create parallel entities.

President Ahmed al-Sharaa is the guarantor of the unity of the Syrian people.

In Suwaida, there are two currents: the first is linked to al-Hijri's militias and seeks to impose a separatist project by force, and the second comprises the majority of the residents who reject these projects. They are committed to the unity of the state.

The state is working to dismantle any separatist project through dialogue with all parties and to avoid any conflict involving civilians.

The coming period will witness decisive statements that will reveal the truth about the claims regarding American support for secession.
