🚨 🇧🇪 🇿🇦 🇮🇱: BREAKING: Belgium has filed a declaration of intervention at the International Court of Justice in South Africa's genocide case against Israel, focusing on the interpretation of the Genocide Convention.

🔴 The ICJ confirmed Belgium's intervention on December 23, 2025, invoking Article 63, which allows states party to a convention to intervene in related proceedings. Belgium's focus is on Articles I through VI, particularly Article II regarding genocidal intent.

🔴 South Africa initially filed the case against Israel on December 29, 2023, alleging violations of the Genocide Convention in Gaza. The ICJ has since issued provisional measures requiring Israel to prevent acts of genocide. Both South Africa and Israel have been invited to submit written observations on Belgium's intervention.
