In response to the biased statements of the US National Security Advisor, which equate the executioner with the victim, and fully adopt the occupation’s narrative, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirms the following:
Talking about “Israel’s right to defend itself” is a blatant distortion of reality. The occupier does not have the right to defend its occupation; rather, it is the aggressor in the first place.
The ongoing Zionist aggression against our people for decades, and the crimes of genocide in Gaza, are what call for condemnation and accountability, not justification and support.
The claim that "Hamas chose war over releasing the hostages" is a distortion of the facts. The Palestinian resistance presented clear initiatives for a ceasefire and a comprehensive prisoner exchange deal, but the occupation, led by Netanyahu, rejected them and deliberately sabotaged them to achieve its own political interests, as acknowledged by the leaders of its own security services.
Talk about the possibility of extending the ceasefire if the resistance releases all prisoners deliberately ignores the fact that the occupation was not serious about implementing the terms of the truce, and did not abide by any of its conditions. Rather, it continued its killing, starvation, and siege, which thwarted the understandings and undermined the chances of an extension.
The American statements once again reveal their full complicity in the aggression against our people, and their complicity with the occupation in committing crimes of genocide, starvation, and siege against more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including thousands of children, women, and innocent civilians.
We affirm that the Palestinian resistance is exercising its legitimate right to defend its people, land, and holy sites against occupation and aggression. Attempts to distort the facts will not succeed in exonerating the occupation of its crimes, nor will they provide Washington with moral cover for its biased policies.
