In Bihar, India, a 40-year-old Muslim cloth vendor named Mohammad Athar Hussain was killed after being brutally lynched by a group affiliated with Hindutva. The attack unfolded when a mob of Hindu men forcibly stopped him, searched his pockets, and dragged him into a room where they demanded he disclose his religious identity. Hussain endured severe torture, including beatings with iron rods and sticks, broken fingers, and trampling on his chest. The assailants attempted to set him ablaze by pouring petrol on him. They also used pliers to crush his feet, fingers, and ears, ripped out his fingernails, cut his ears, burned him with a hot iron, and struck him with bricks. This horrific incident occurred on December 5, and Hussain remained hospitalized for nearly a week before succumbing to his injuries.
