🇮🇷 🇵🇸 🟢 🇸🇾🇮🇱 🇸🇦Ahmed Muwaffaq Zidan, advisor to Syria’s new president and once branded by the West as a “grave threat” for his ties to Al-Qaeda figures, commented on Saudi-Hamas relations:
Saudi Arabia was supporting Hamas three times more than Iran, but the Kingdom has the right to turn against the movement because it aligns with Iran 24 hours a day and has not maintained its principles in confronting the Zionists."

📝Admin Note:
Hamas had originally enjoyed deep support from Saudi Arabia until U.S. pressure pushed Riyadh to cut ties. When the Syrian civil war broke out, Hamas severed relations with Iran and the Assad government, turning back to Saudi Arabia for support—only to be rebuffed, with Saudi authorities even jailing Hamas members instead of restoring ties.

🇮🇷 🇵🇸 🟢 🇸🇾🇮🇱 🇸🇦 — Ahmed Muwaffaq Zidan, advisor to Syria’s new president and once branded by the West as a “grave threat” for his ties to Al-Qaeda figures, commented on Saudi-Hamas relations: Saudi Arabia was supporting Hamas three times more than Iran…
🇵🇸 🟢 🇺🇸 🇸🇦| 🇮🇷Hamas & Saudi Arabia | A Complicated History

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Saudi Arabia was Hamas’s largest patron at times supporting the movement more than Iran. Official charities and private networks across the Kingdom funneled vast sums of money into Gaza.

But after 9/11, Washington pressured Riyadh to cut off groups designated as “terrorist.” Saudi Arabia complied, closing Hamas-linked charities and halting open political support.

When the Syrian civil war began in 2011, Hamas sided with the Syrian opposition, severing ties with Assad and straining its alliance with Iran. Hoping to re-enter the Saudi orbit, Hamas leadership approached Riyadh for renewed backing.

The attempt failed. Saudi Arabia kept its distance, wary of U.S. pressure and its own regional rivalry with Iran. Instead of reconciliation, Riyadh cracked down on Hamas networks inside the Kingdom and imprisoned Hamas-linked fundraisers and activists.

This left Hamas stranded cut off from Saudi Arabia, at odds with Syria, and estranged from Iran. Only in the late-2010s did Hamas begin repairing its ties with Tehran, gradually restoring the alliance that still stands today.

has not maintained its principles in confronting the Zionists.
The same people preparing to sign a “peace deal” with Israel in a month (September 25th) are accusing Hamas of abandoning its principles.

This, while Hamas has sacrificed thousands of martyrs over the past two years in direct confrontation with the Zionist occupiers — holding the line in Gaza’s alleys, tunnels, and ruins against one of the most heavily armed armies in the world.

To claim that such a movement has “not maintained its principles” is the height of hypocrisy — especially when those words come from the advisor to a government now ready to embrace open normalization with Israel.

I'm pretty sure Japan has more martyrs than Saudis since 1949 if we exclude the israeli-arab wars which didn't happen over Palestine, rather over nationalistic bs
