The films LOTR & Hobbit are specifically based on the folklore & mythology of indigenous, pagan European cultures. TV series “Game of Thrones” seems to be based on multiple ancient empires & kingdoms of the real world.

You can find a little bit of everyone in GAME OF THRONES. The kingdoms & empires of “Game of Thrones” are equivalent to real world kingdoms like the ancient middle eastern kingdoms, oriental kingdom, the white European Northerners a mix of Slavic/Nordic/Celtic, and maybe even a mix of Greeks/Roman/Etruscans. “Game of Thrones” even includes the ancient Valyrian empire, which I think is the equivalent of our legends of ancient Atlantis.

I haven’t read the book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" on which the TV series “Game of Thrones” was based, but from the bits & pieces of excerpts, I find that although both are unique in their own way, the books "A Song of Ice and Fire" sort of reads like Tolkien’s books. Although I haven’t read Tolkien’s books either, and only basing this opinion on my reading of the bits & pieces of Tolkien’s book excerpts.

I feel like George R.R. Martin took some of Tolkien’s ideas, and made it his own. I love Martin’s creation, because like Tolkien’s books, Martin’s work touches us on a deeper level, and stirs up our blood memory. For me personally though, George R.R. Martin has nothing on Tolkien, and he even admits this himself. Martin very much admires Tolkien for his genius

I was enjoying “Game of Thrones” up until the last 2 seasons, when they’ve completely ruined the show. One of the things I really love about the books, and the TV series “Game of Thrones” is that they associate the Northern race/kingdoms with tree worship, and present them as direct descendants of the “first men” which was the very first race of humans of that world
This source shares their opinion, and connects the kingdoms of “Game of thrones” with various kingdoms from our real world
Maybe I’m wrong, but to me, the “lord of light” the new religion of the world in GAME OF THRONES seem to be the equivalent of our real world Christianity/Abrahamism when they were going around burning all those who refuse to give up the ancient faith, and accept the new faith.

Game of thrones situation with religious reforms is a bit more complicated than how we perceive our own history of religious reforms. In the real world, our perception of history of religious reforms is first world was made up of pagan cultures who believed in many gods, and than Abrahamic religions came along and took over. In Game of Thrones it’s a little different. Like for example, the “first men” first races of that world followed nature-based spirituality. They call it “ nameless gods” in the show. It was forces of nature, and landscape features and other elements of nature that were not personified or given human attributes. And then later came a new race and brought a new religion of 7 gods, followed by another religious reformation when the “lord of light” was taking over, which was something equivalent to Christianity, or Zoroastrianism, a belief that there are only 2 gods like good vs evil/god vs Satan.
Here she’s burning people, and specifically for the reason that they refused to tear down the idols of the old gods of their forefathers. For those who’ve watched the series know that Melisandre was know to burn people, and the idols of the old gods. She even burned the young princess at the stake
This is brilliant! People should read this.

Everything that is said here about pre-Christian anglo-Saxons, also applies to Slavic tribes of Russia, and Ukraine before the coming of Christian-Orthodox Church and Christian Romanovs. The caste system was the same. There was no separation between king/ ruling class and the common folk of Slavic pagan Russia & Ukraine. Old pagan Slavic kings/rulers didn’t view the common folk as their subjects/slaves, but as their own kin, to lead and protect. The pagan rulers didn’t dine on golden plates, and wore the finest fabrics while the common folk starved, and existed in severe poverty. Pagan rulers cared for their people, and even fought & bled for their people
Here it says that when Christianity was enforced in pagan Armenia, it forced to turn Armenia from its Iranian past. I’m sure that this is not a true description of what went on during the Christianization of pagan Armenia. I’m sure this part of history was much more dark & bloody than they wish to admit.
Same as with all other indigenous pagan cultures, Christianity tore down all of the pagan temples and placed their own Christian churches on top
This was published in 2017, but I was pleased to read that a Slavic country like Poland, which always talks about itself as a proud Christian nation, is finally showing signs that her Slavic children are starting to wake up from their Abrahamic nightmare, and return to their native, pagan roots. Though I’m sure this won’t be an easy process, because the Christian brainwashing runs deep in Poland, just as it is in Armenia.
The first one they mention “Wołchw” is Polish for Volkhv, which is a Slavic pagan priest/sage/seer/shaman This source shares a little information on this topic, but there is much more information on Slavic pagan priest class/shamans
