Nationwide Student Strike for Palestine. Sydney Town Hall. 11 March 2026.
Hosted by Students for Palestine - Sydney Uni.
There were several hundred students from various high schools and universities in attendance today. They had a number of speakers at Town Hall including Greens Member of Parliament Jenny Leong. This was followed by a March through the city streets to the New South Wales Parliament, where there was one last speech and some chanting.
There was definitely a lot less people here this year. I think it’s combination of a few things probably, the war in Iran at the moment is in full swing, a ceasefire is in place in Gazza, and also probably some doubt in the minds of parents and students themselves about coming out to protest now once these new protest laws etc have happened, and after what happened at the February 9 protest. Just my opinion of course.

Definitely another protest of late where the numbers are down on the previous year. There was approx. 200 Protestors in attendance. They marched a very short 3 square blocks from Town Hall and back. Followed by a number of speeches.
In their words…..”Come and celebrate IWD with us at this year's twilight rally!
Join our march through the Sydney CBD and hear from inspiring women leading the charge for equality, safety, and freedom for women both in here in Sydney, and internationally.
Free sign making from 5pm, so come down and get creative before we hit the streets!”
