Following the completion of the identification process by the National Center of Forensic Medicine, in cooperation with the Israel Police and the IDF Rabbinate, IDF representatives informed the families of hostages Arie (Zalman) Zalmanovich, of blessed memory, and Master Sergeant (Res.) Tamir Adar, of blessed memory, the deputy local security commander and a member of the local security team, both from Kibbutz Nir Oz, that their loved ones had been returned to Israel and that their identification had been completed.

The Government of Israel shares in the deep sorrow of the Zalmanovich and Adar families and all the families of the deceased hostages.

The Government and the entire establishment for the missing and the captives of the State of Israel are determined, committed, and working tirelessly to return all of our deceased hostages for proper burial in their country.

The Hamas terrorist organization is required to uphold its commitments to the mediators and return them as part of the implementation of the agreement. We will not compromise on this and will spare no effort until we return all of the deceased hostages, every last one of them.

Israel categorically rejects the ICJ’s “advisory opinion,” which was entirely predictable from the outset regarding UNRWA. This is yet another political attempt to impose political measures against Israel under the guise of “International Law.”

Today’s ICJ advisory opinion should have called out the terrorist activity that UNRWA has been involved in: UNRWA employees directly took part in the October 7th massacre and continue to assist Hamas’s terrorist operations - all under the auspices of the United Nations. Hamas terror activity within UNRWA took place before the October 7th massacre, during the massacre, and after the massacre. Israel provided the UN with extensive evidence proving Hamas’s infiltration into UNRWA, but the UN has never investigated the full extent of that infiltration. To this day, UNRWA still employs more than 1,400 Hamas operatives. Israel will not cooperate with an organization that is infested with terror activities.

Israel fully upholds its obligations under International Law. Israel fully rejects the politicization of International Law, which seeks to produce political outcomes and impose measures intended to harm the State of Israel.

Following the October 7th 2023 massacre perpetrated by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist organizations, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) uncovered extensive evidence exposing the depth and scope of Hamas' infiltration into the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza and the systematic and long-term effort by Hamas to exploit the agency's infrastructure, workforce, and operational footprint for terrorist purposes.
