๐บ๐ธ โ ๐ป๐ช Senators file resolution to block US military action in Venezuela without congressional approval
The resolution was initiated by Democratic Senators Tim Kaine, Chuck Schumer, and Adam Schiff as well as Republican Senator Rand Paul, Reuters reports.
๐ The document stipulates forcing a debate and vote in Congress that could block the possible use of US forces โin hostilities against or within Venezuela," the lawmakers said.
The US earlier warned that it would take action against Venezuela โvery soon,โ as Washington accuses Caracas of being involved in drug trafficking, allegations that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has repeatedly rejected.
๐ฃ The US military has carried out at least 21 strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean and Pacific since early September, killing some 83 people and prompting international condemnation.

๐จ Putin calls meeting with Witkoff and Kushner very useful
More of what the president said about the meeting:
๐น Proposals brought to Russia by the American side were, in one way or another, based on understandings reached with President Trump in Alaska
๐น Practically every point had to be gone through, which is why the meeting took so long
๐น Russia tried to build relations between the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and Ukraine, but Kiev did not recognize them and the republics did not want to remain part of Ukraine, which they expressed in a referendum
๐น American side divided the 27 points of Trump's plan into four packages and proposed discussing them separately
๐น US representatives are now engaged in shuttle diplomacy

๐ฐ Europe risks $190B meltdown if frozen Russian assets seized
If the EU proceeds with confiscating Russian assets as part of issuing a โreparation loanโ to Ukraine, the blocโs member states could lose at least $190 billion in direct investments in the Russian economy, according to calculations by Sputnik based on data from national statistical agencies.
The countries that would be hit the hardest are:
๐จ๐พ Cyprus ($100 billion)
๐ฉ๐ช Germany ($20.1 billion)
๐ณ๐ฑ Netherlands ($16.1 billion)
๐ซ๐ท France ($15.1 billion)
๐ฎ๐น Italy ($13 billion)
Given the ban on โunfriendlyโ foreign investors from withdrawing funds that were placed in the Russian economy before the start of the sanctions war, the total sum could in fact be considerably higher due to the accumulated balances held in so-called โC-typeโ accounts.
๐ Following the start of the Russian special military operation in 2022, the EU and G7 froze nearly half of Russia's foreign currency reserves, totaling approximately $349 billion. Around $233 billion is held in European accounts, predominantly at Belgium-based Euroclear. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the confiscation of immobilized Russian assets would be considered theft of property and undermine confidence in the eurozone.
