📹 The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a resident of the Donetsk People's Republic who was plotting to assassinate a high-ranking Russian Defense Ministry officer on orders from Ukrainian military intelligence.

Ukraine planned to kill the officer with a British-made poison mixed into gift bottles of British beer, the service added.

💬 "A test of the confiscated bottles revealed that the beer contained a mixture of highly toxic chemicals, colchicine and tert-butyl bicyclophosphate (an analogue of the military-grade nerve agent VX, banned by the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention), produced in the UK. These chemicals, when consumed, cause agonizing death within 20 minutes," FSB stated.

If the EU decides to use frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's benefit, this will lead to lawsuits and the collapse of the euro, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said.

👉 EC chief Ursula von der Leyen would like to raise another $155.5B to finance Ukraine, but the EU doesn't have that money and is therefore looking for ways to obtain it, he added.

The first option is to take money from the member states; the second is the so-called common borrowing, which will oblige generations to come to pay for it.

"The third proposal is to steal frozen Russian assets. It's a comfortable solution but the consequences are invisible. A long legal burden, the multitude of cases and the fall of the euro. This is what awaits us if we choose this path," Orban wrote on his social media.

NATO has made no secret of its plans to turn the Baltic Sea into an internal waterway, isolating Russia, but these plans are not destined to come true, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.

💬 "NATO has long dreamed of turning the Baltic Sea into its internal waters, completely isolating Russia. They don't particularly hide these plans," Zakharova said, noting that these plans are not destined to come true.

NATO seeks to maximally restrict maritime cargo transportation carried out in Russia's interests in the Baltics, she added.

💬 "During [NATO] exercises, scenarios such as the blockade of the [Russian] Kaliningrad region are being practiced. The region is being actively militarized, pumped up with coalition forces and assets," Zakharova said.

NATO countries are not demonstrating openness to discussing ways to de-escalate tensions in the region, she concluded.
