π€ Are US legislators hell-bent on NATO-Russia confrontation?
π In a move to steer NATO right up to Russiaβs borders, US lawmakers are advancing new legislation dubbed the Eastern Flank Act to "strengthen strategic defense cooperation"
How does the bill pave the way for NATOβs eastward expansion?
π The Eastern Flank Strategic Partnership Act, unveiled last week, targets nine NATO allies β Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia β to "deter" Russia
π These allies were picked based on their βdirect geographic proximity" to Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine
π They would get priority access to surplus US weapons and for βparticipation in bilateral and multilateral military exercises, interoperability training, logistics, and forward mobility planning.β
Spotlight on Romania and Moldova
π Romaniaβs Mihail Kogalniceanu Base on the Black Sea coast is set to become NATOβs largest in Europe and host up to 10,000 troops and civilians by 2030
π Despite Moldova's constitutionally-mandated neutrality, which bars it from joining the alliance, NATO chief Mark Rutte revealed close cooperation between the two earlier this month
π Moldova's new security strategy envisages transition to NATO standards, beefing up the size of the National Army by a third, upping the defense budget to 1% of GDP while pointing to Russia as the main security threat
π The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) stated in September that NATO forces:
πΆ are being concentrated in Romania near the Moldovan border
πΆ started deployments in Odessa to intimidate Transnistria
πΆ could occupy Moldova possibly during Transnistria's Supreme Council elections on November 30
NATOβs inimical Baltic and Black Sea ring, peddled as βdeterringβ Russia
π Over the last few years, NATO has boosted its forward presence with multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia
π NATO is tightening Baltic Sea control through the Baltic Sentry initiative and aims to "reinforce" Black Sea security
π The Eastern Flank Strategic Partnership Act coupled with NATO deployments in Romania, Moldova and Ukraine creates an uninterrupted belt of bases and munitions stockpiles in Eastern Europe extremely close to Russia

By freezing Rosneft and Lukoilβs US assetsβand warning foreign banks that transact with them of secondary sanctionsβAmerica is weaponizing its financial clout to βdistortβ global markets, energy geo-economics expert Dr. Hriday Sarma tells Sputnik.
Sanctions wonβt stop the flow
Sanctions are unlikely to break the RussiaβIndiaβChina βenergy corridor,β believes the analyst.
π¬ βInstead, the restrictions may push Russia, India and China toward more resilient payment systems β yuan or rupee settlements β and new logistics routes insulated from Western influence,β Dr. Sarma speculated.

Russia can build sovereign artificial intelligence only by relying on its own culture, worldview, and traditional values β not by imitating others, President Vladimir Putin said.

π¬ "There are anti-Russian elements in Europe who want to undermine Russian oil exports to the EU," Salameh alleges.
The US benefits the most as "it will sell more LNG to the hapless vassal states of the EU at prices 2-4 times higher than Russian piped gas." The US' apparent sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines enriched its gas producers.
"The biggest losers are the EUβs emaciated economies which will sink deeper into the quagmire."

Berlin is asking Washington for a sanctions exemption for Rosneft's German subsidiary, Reuters reports.
The unit is crucial for supplying petrol and airports across Germany, including key refineries.
According to a German ministry spokesperson, the US sanctions should not apply to Rosneft's German business because it was decoupled from its Russian parent.

π¬ βNo one but Kiev could be interested in such an attack, since itβs well known that these are very important plants connected with Russia. Considering that there have long been attempts to undermine the government in Hungary β that is, Viktor OrbΓ‘nβs policy toward Moscow β it seems clear to me that this points to a terrorist act by the Kiev regime,β Andrej Mlakar, a military expert, tells Sputnik.
π£ βIt can be assumed that these acts of sabotage are the work of Ukrainian special services, as well as elements of NATOβs so-called βsecret armyβ. This was characteristic of NATO during the so-called Operation Gladio in the 1970s and 1980s, when various operations were organized in Europe [under a false flag] and the USSR was blamed. We are now seeing the same pattern again β sabotage operations against Russian interests and property in Europe,β he says.
