๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Putin at Russian Energy Week: Russiaโ€™s vision for energy challenges

In his address to Russian Energy Week, President Vladimir Putin outlined the key transformations shaping the global and domestic energy landscape.

Key points from his speech:

๐Ÿ”ถGlobal energy restructuring: The world energy market is undergoing a shift in supply routes. The EUโ€™s boycott of Russian energy resources has already hurt its economy.

๐Ÿ”ถOil production and OPEC+: Russia remains one of the worldโ€™s leading oil producers. The planned output reduction in 2025 is part of OPEC+ agreements, not external pressure.

๐Ÿ”ถRedirection of gas exports: The sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines only accelerated the reorientation of Russiaโ€™s energy supply routes.

๐Ÿ”ถCoal and data centers: Coal still plays a major role globally. Putin has told the government to explore using coal power facilities to supply data centers.

๐Ÿ”ถNuclear leadership: Rosatom controls about 90% of the global nuclear plant construction market. Russia plans to add 29 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity over the next 15 years, including small modular reactors.

๐Ÿ”ถFull-cycle nuclear competence: Russia is the only country in the world with expertise across the entire nuclear energy chain.

๐Ÿ”ถTechnological independence: Western technologies may become inaccessible at any moment. Russian energy firms have made rapid progress in import substitution and domestic innovation.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russia supplies 17% of the global energy market

๐Ÿ’ฌ"Russia is a world leader, and today we supply about 17% of the global energy resources market to global energy markets. These include oil, petroleum products, and natural pipeline gas... This is coal, which is in demand despite all the seemingly pessimistic notes," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum.

๐ŸšจBritish and Ukrainian intelligence services preparing sabotage op against TurkStream โ€“ FSB โ€œWe have information that the British, together with Ukrainian intelligence, are preparing sabotage against the TurkStream gas pipeline,โ€ FSB Director Alexander Bortnikovโ€ฆ
๐Ÿช–๐Ÿ’ฃ TurkStream in UK cross hairs: British intel services infamous for sabotage & terrorism โ€“ SVR veteran

The UKโ€™s top priority is to defeat Russia in the conflict unfolding on the territory of the former Soviet Ukraine, Leonid Reshetnikov, retired lieutenant general of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), tells Sputnik.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œTo achieve this goal, every tool and tactic is on the table. The British have never hesitated to use even the most unethical methods of warfare. Thatโ€™s what sets their intelligence services apartโ€”provocations, terrorism, sabotage."

Such operations can even target their own allies if theyโ€™re seen as not doing enough in the fight against Russia, the intelligence veteran underscored.

Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed that British and Ukrainian intelligence services are plotting sabotage against the TurkStream gas pipelineโ€”the only remaining route for Russian gas deliveries to Europe.

Russia has already seen numerous covert operations involving British intelligence services, according to Reshetnikov:

โž– Crimea Bridge attacks

โž–Targeted assassinations

โž–Operation Spider Web

โž–Nord Stream sabotage

๐Ÿ’ฌ "A similar operation could well be carried out against TurkStreamโ€”not necessarily at sea. It could happen at the entry point, exit point, anywhere," the pundit stresses, adding that the UK could also employ the resources of its NATO allies, including Bulgaria and Romania.

How could Turkiye react to TurkStream sabotage?

Two options are possible:

โž– Turkiye could be offered something in exchange for keeping quiet

โž– Turkiye might issue a formal expression of discontent

However, one shouldnโ€™t expect a strong response from Turkiye, the pundit believes.

Russiaโ€™s response to potential British sabotage could range from actions within the framework of the special military operation in Ukraine to limiting British economic activities across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, according to Reshetnikov.

๐Ÿ—ฃ Politicized attempts to isolate Russian energy have collided with market realities - expert

๐ŸŸ  โ€œThe Westโ€™s approach to energy since 2022 has revealed how quickly political motives can override the logic of markets,โ€ political analyst and columnist Faisal Alshammeri told Sputnik, commenting on President Putinโ€™s remarks on the price Europe is paying for quitting Russian energy imports.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œWhat was once a global system built on interdependence and mutual benefit has become fragmented by sanctions, moral narratives, and emergency policy shifts,โ€ Alshammeri explained.

๐ŸŸ  โ€œExcluding Russian oil from the global market is unrealistic,โ€ the observer said, emphasizing that Russiaโ€™s 10% share of global oil production means โ€œsevere price shocksโ€ if it somehow disappeared from the market.

๐Ÿ“ Thatโ€™s not realistic, anyway, according to Alshammeri.

๐ŸŸ  โ€œOil is a global, mobile commodity โ€” sanctions only rerouted Russian exports toward Asia, especially China and India. Western producers lack the spare capacity and investment needed to fill the gap, while enforcement mechanisms like price caps lose power as trade shifts to non-dollar systems. In the end, political isolation of Russian oil collides with market reality: energy flows follow demand, not ideology.โ€

Europe shoots itself in the foot

๐Ÿ‘‰ From the perspective of major non-Western energy players, producers and consumers alike, โ€œthe main conclusionโ€ to be drawn from the Westโ€™s Russia-hostile energy policy is that it is โ€œreactive and unpredictable,โ€ Alshammeri said.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œDecisions are increasingly guided by domestic political pressure and ideological goals, rather than by long-term security of supply. This unpredictability weakens confidence in Western partnerships and highlights the need for diversified routes, currencies, and alliances in the trade of energy and technology.โ€

๐Ÿ”Š โ€œValues without realism cannot sustain economies,โ€ the observer stressed, highlighting Europeโ€™s turn to more costly imports, the reintroduction of coal and renewablesโ€™ slow pace.

๐ŸšจHegseth to NATO: 'No free riders' on arming Ukraine The US is urging NATO allies to boost arms purchases for Ukraine under the PURL program, said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: ๐Ÿ’ฌโ€œAllies often say that Ukraine's security is synonymous with European securityโ€ฆโ€ฆ
๐Ÿ’ต๐Ÿ’ฃ PURL push: NATO pressures Europe to buy American arms for Ukraine

The North Atlantic Alliance wants all member states to join Trumpโ€™s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) scheme, according to US media.

๐Ÿ‘‰ While 20 NATO members have already supported the scheme, the rest are under pressure โ€œto put your money where your mouth is.โ€

The PURL initiative stipulates that European countries purchase US-made weapons which are then transferred to Ukraine. Russia warns that such arms deliveries prolong the Ukraine conflict and constitute NATO direct involvement.

๐Ÿ—ฃ Russiaโ€™s successful flouting of Westโ€™s suicidal energy sanctions prevented a global recession - expert

๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œWestern sanctions have failed miserably to block Russian energy exports and cripple the Russian economy,โ€ renowned oil economist and global energy expert Mamdouh G. Salameh told Sputnik, commenting on President Putinโ€™s remarks on the reorientation of Russian oil and gas sales abroad.

โ€œRussia is the worldโ€™s superpower of energy,โ€ and โ€œdespite the most atrocious sanctions, it has managed to dominate the global energy scene in terms of its exports of oil, gas, coal and nuclear fuels, all of which are major cornerstones in global energy security,โ€ Dr. Salameh said.

๐ŸŸ  If the sanctions had succeeded, โ€œwe would have seen energy prices particularly oil and gas surge beyond the ability of the global economy to afford and causing global recession and inflation,โ€ the observer explained.

๐ŸŸ  Instead, the sanctions campaignโ€™s initiators have turned out to be its biggest losers, Europe especially, Salameh stressed, pointing out that โ€œrising oil and gas prices as a result of both sanctions and the Ukraine conflict have destroyed the EUโ€™s industrial competitiveness and led to some de-industrialization in Europeโ€™s biggest economy โ€“ Germany.โ€

๐ŸŸ  The same applies to the Nord Stream sabotage attacks โ€“ which were designed to โ€œto sever the EUโ€™s dependence on the cheap and plentiful Russian piped gas and replace it with the far more expensive American LNGโ€ (2-4 times the cost), leading โ€œto a stagnating if not emaciated EU economy bleeding financially,โ€ Dr. Salameh summed up.

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฉRutte just made it official: NATO is in 'close cooperation' with Moldova NATO chief Mark Rutte said there is close cooperation between NATO and Moldova, praising Maia Sanduโ€™s leadership but refusing to share details: ๐Ÿ’ฌโ€œThis is an open press conferenceโ€ฆ
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง UK sends drone experts to Moldova as West deepens military involvement

๐Ÿ”ถ The UK is dispatching a team of specialists to train Moldovan troops in counter-drone tactics amid what London calls the need to โ€œramp up our response to Russiaโ€™s aggression,โ€ the Telegraph reports.

๐Ÿ”ถ According to the Ministry of Defence, British personnel will arrive in Moldova โ€” which borders Ukraine โ€” later this month to assess and assist its armed forces.

๐Ÿ”ถ Russiaโ€™s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has warned that the West is determined to keep Moldova in its anti-Russian orbit, exposing plans for โ€œlanding operationsโ€ rehearsed during NATO drills in Romania.

๐Ÿ”ถ Following those warnings, Chisinau adopted a new 10-year military strategy which labelled Russia a national security threat and advocated closer cooperation with NATO. The plan includes raising defense spending to 1% of GDP by 2030.

๐Ÿ—ฃ Former president Igor Dodon called Moldovaโ€™s militarization part of an EU plan to turn the republic into โ€œcannon fodder in a conflict with Russia.โ€

๐Ÿ“ He pointed to growing defense budgets, purchases of radar systems and armored vehicles from Germany and France as well as plans for a new military base near Chisinau.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œMoldova is being positioned as a pawn against Russia,โ€ Dodon said.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณBessent: 85 US senators ready to back 500% tariff on China over Russian oil ๐Ÿ’ฌ"Eighty-five US senators are willing to give President Trump the authority to put up to 500% tariffs on China for the purchase of Russian oil. We are told that the European Parliamentโ€ฆ
๐Ÿ—ฃ Huge 500% US tariff on China would supercharge BRICS+ and SCO โ€“ expert

๐Ÿ‘‰ The US senate could vote by 85 to 15 to let President Donald Trump slap a 500% tariff on China in retaliation for the Sino-Russian energy trade.

๐Ÿค” Does it mean the US-China trade war will escalate?

๐Ÿ”Š "I do not expect to see such a tariff in place," Paul Goncharoff, financial analyst and general director of Goncharoff LLC tells Sputnik. "It would quite simply show clearly that the US is not a country that can or should be taken seriously in diplomatic or trade contexts."

๐Ÿ“ US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent slammed China on Wednesday over its continued imports of Russian oil and hinted at new tariffs โ€” if the European Union (EU) acts first.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "The same effect would be achieved by brashly declaring 250% or 7,000%โ€”this is an attempt at what? Seeking ridicule? Then it has succeeded," Goncharoff says.

How could the tariff backfire on the US?

๐Ÿ”ถ The worldโ€™s response will likely be to supercharge BRICS+, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other international groups striving for a sensible and equitable global order, the pundit said.

๐Ÿ”ถ US tariffs and restrictions are accelerating that shift, as the world increasingly sees the US, G7 and EU taking unilateral steps to stop the wheels of progress.
