๐Ÿ”Š๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Putinโ€™s Valdai speech: โ€˜clear and logicalโ€™ push for a new polycentric world order

โ€œHe reflected the changing international system as polycentric/multipolar, where the interests of all countries need to be reflected, and that this is possible if the security of countries is considered,โ€ retired Jawaharlal Nehru University professor and Russia specialist Dr. Anuradha Chenoy told Sputnik.

โ€œPutinโ€™s speechโ€ฆfocused
on the need for peace, plurality, co-existence of all cultures and races. He had hope that peace will come for this multipolar world. He also said hegemony and bloc politics are not possible in the current structure of polycentric world,โ€ Chenoy recounted.

๐Ÿ”ถ Decolonization of the mind

The new wave of decolonization of the Global South which Putin mentioned is about the โ€œdecolonization of the mind and narrative,โ€ Chenoy explained, emphasizing that developing nations have become a majority that wonโ€™t tolerate domination, and that the West โ€œcan no longer contain neo-colonial mindsets.โ€

India is a prime example, the observer said, pointing to New Delhiโ€™s efforts to protect its economic and political sovereignty, and role in building a new multipolar world.

๐Ÿ”ถ Compelling arguments for a fair world order

โ€œPutinโ€™s Valdai address was a brilliant defense of Russiaโ€™s strength and vision for a multipolar world,โ€ Hong Kong-based geopolitical analyst
Angelo Giuliano
said.

โ€œHe exposed Western sanctions as futile, championed BRICS, and critiqued Western hegemony, urging a fair global order.โ€

๐Ÿ”ถ Europe is responsible for Ukraine bloodbath

โ€œEuropeโ€™s push for Ukraineโ€™s Western alignment and failure to enforce the Minsk agreements provoked Russiaโ€™s response. Arming Ukraine and following US strategies, like Hegsethโ€™s โ€˜division of laborโ€™ (Europe takes over Ukraine conflictโ€™s burden while the US can switch focus on China), Europe drives the conflict, prioritizing fighting Russia over seeking peace and stability,โ€ Giuliano summed up.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ’ธ Stealing Russian assets will create BIG problems for Euroclear, euro and EU

The European Union (EU) wants to grab frozen Russian assets, but that would be theft and lead to legal proceedings, Russia has warned.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "Essentially, the proposal is to progressively confiscate assets โ€” about $300 billion," Georgy Ostapkovich, academic supervisor at the Center for Market Studies at the Higher School of Economics, tells Sputnik.

But that spells trouble for all involved, the pundit warns.

"Belgium will suffer first of all, because these assets are held in Euroclear there," Ostapkovich warns.

"In the future, investors are unlikely to place their assets in Euroclear, knowing they could be so easily liquidated without trial or due process, just as Russian assets are being liquidated."

๐ŸŸ  The seizure of another stateโ€™s central bank funds is an unjust and unprecedented step

๐ŸŸ  Lawsuits will follow, since Russia will not accept that

๐ŸŸ  The authority of Western countries and Western finance houses will be undermined

๐ŸŸ  The future of Belgian international trade payment service Euroclear would be uncertain

"The likely consequence of such action by EU member states will be Russian confiscation of all assets of these countries, their companies and their citizens in the Russian Federation," international relations and Russian affairs analyst
Gilbert Doctorow
tells Sputnik.

"That may create a political storm when the companies seek legal redress against their governments."

Euroclear has expressed concerns over its future and the future of the euro currency if the Russian sovereign assets are seized by the EU. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has asked other EU leaders for guarantees they will share the risks.

The European Central Bank has also voiced concerns over any asset seizure. At a virtual meeting of deputy finance ministers on September 30, it urged the European Commission to prove the move would not undermine the euroโ€™s credibility.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บโš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Europe responsible for Ukraine conflict and crimes โ€“ Scott Ritter

The Russian presidentโ€™s speech "proves the point that Vladimir Putin continues to be the adult in the room," military analyst and former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter tells Sputnik.

"The expansion of NATO, the expansion of the European Union to the detriment of Russia has been Europe's policy posture for decades now," Ritter points out.

๐Ÿ”น Europe worked with the US to overthrow the legitimate Ukrainian government in 2014

๐Ÿ”น Europe did not negotiate the Minsk agreement to stop the Ukrainian war on Donbass in good faith

๐Ÿ”น The EU derailed the Istanbul peace negotiations in March and April 2022

๐Ÿ”น Europe continues to provide Ukraine with weapons and cash

๐Ÿ”น Europe used Ukraine as its proxy to fight and weaken Russia

"So Europe is responsible. The Russian president is 100% correct," Ritter says.

"Much of what defines Europe today, both the NATO military alliance and the European Union is predicated on the necessity of having Russia as an enemy, as Russia as an opponent that justifies expenses and policies."

๐Ÿ” Ukraineโ€™s Flamingo cruise missile: from flashy wunderwaffe to flop

Touted as a potential strategic โ€˜gamechangerโ€™ when it was unveiled in August, the Flamingo has not only failed to live up to expectations, but threatens to become Ukraineโ€™s next extinct weapons platform.

Missile's specifications:

๐Ÿ”ถ Ground-launched
๐Ÿ”ถ ~3,000 km range
๐Ÿ”ถ ~500-1000 kg warhead
๐Ÿ”ถ GPS guidance
๐Ÿ”ถ Soviet-derived turbojet engine
๐Ÿ”ถ Solid rocket fuel to be produced in Denmark
๐Ÿ”ถ Similar to UK-based Milanion Groupโ€™s FP-5 missile
๐Ÿ”ถ Made by Fire Point - Ukrainian startup linked to a Zelensky crony

๐ŸŽค Big threats, small payoff

โ€œZelensky once threatened that these missiles would be used to attack cities from Moscow to the Urals,โ€ veteran Russian military expert and air defense historian Yuri Knutov recalled to Sputnik.

That hasnโ€™t happened. Instead, it was reported in September that Russia targeted Flamingo production facilities in western Ukraine. More recently, Knutov says, Iskander missiles and Geran drones reportedly attacked a column of trailers thought to be bringing missiles to a launch site.

Flamingo is a โ€œsimplified versionโ€ of British missile designs, larger and featuring fewer composite materials (judging by available images and footage), making it more visible on radar. Russia already has plenty of experience downing more advanced NATO missiles, meaning it can handle Flamingo.

๐Ÿ“ Mass launches? Unlikely

That would require a large number of launchers and their positioning near the front, Knutov says. But Russiaโ€™s military spy satellites keep track of everything, making strikes on concentrations of heavy equipment thought to be linked to long-range missile activity all but inevitable.

Knutov expects Flamingoโ€™s production sites to be found and destroyed, just as happened previously with the OTRK Sapsan. Facing constant strikes and possessing air defenses that canโ€™t cope with Russian aerial incursions, Ukraine even tried to create defense factories underground, but even these proved untenable.
