The joint development by the UK and Germany of a new high-precision weapon with a range of over 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) will hit the arms control regime following the collapse of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin told Sputnik.

"This is part of a new wave of Europe's militarization under the pretext of a threat from Russia," he said.

On May 15, the UK Ministry of Defense announced plans to jointly develop, together with Germany, a high-precision weapon with a range exceeding 2,000 kilometers. It was noted that the new weapon is intended "to strengthen NATO's deterrence capabilities."
