The British Ministry of Defence announced Operation Highmast, a major exercise in the region, which includes:

🟠the Royal Navy flagship HMS Prince of Wales, 
🟠around 2,500 personnel from the Royal Navy and 592 from the Royal Air Force,
🟠around 900 personnel from the British Army,
🟠ships or troops from 12 other countries including Canada, Norway and Spain.

The Ministry referred to the Indo-Pacific region as "critically important for UK trade, with imports and exports in the region amounting to billions of pounds for the UK economy," thus the deployment will allow British companies to "participate in trade events during port visits."

Donald Trump’s special Mideast envoy’s team had sent messages urging direct talks with Iranian officials in Oman, The Washington Post cited administration officials as saying.

“Indirect is our preference,” Iranian FM Sayed Abbas Araghchi had stated after Trump teased the upcoming negotiations on Saturday as “direct.”
