How China grows immune to Trump's Tariff War 2.0

China is increasingly resorting to tit-for-tat measures, instead of World Trade Organization disputes, as it no longer relies on US trade as much as it did 20โ€“30 years ago, Jeff J. Brown, author of The China Trilogy, tells Sputnik.

The pundit explains that Beijing's non-Western trade is growing at double-digit rates, giving the nation more room for maneuver.

"Some [Chinese measures] are minor, like reciprocal tariffs on US goods, but others are substantial, such as limiting the export of rare earth minerals and sanctions on the US military," Brown stressed.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท IRGC warns enemies: Iranโ€™s unstoppable missiles have you in their sights

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œOur missiles can hit any target of the enemy in the region and overcome the enemyโ€™s missiles,โ€ IRGC chief Hossein Salami has announced.

Iranโ€™s missile power โ€œforms the basis of our deterrence,โ€ the commander said at a science conference in Tehran.

Salami cited the IRGCโ€™s January 2020 missile barrage against US bases in Iraq after the assassination of Quds Force chief Qasem Soleimani as a demonstration of its capabilities and determination to respond to aggression.

โšก๏ธ "The Russian side hasn't received samples of external objects found in the fuselage of the plane for examination," RT reports, citing source in Russian aviation circles involved in the investigation of the AZAL plane crash in Aktau.

"Therefore, the allegations of some foreign media about their identification as elements of the Pantsir missile require at least further investigation".

In the preliminary report of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan there are no data on what these "external objects" are.

โ€˜Criminalโ€™ USAIDโ€™s future at risk, but what about its NED cousins?

The drama over the future of the State Departmentโ€™s favorite soft power tool saw the world breathe a collective sigh of relief. But USAID is far from the only instrument in Washingtonโ€™s meddling toolkit.

โ—ป๏ธ The National Endowment for Democracy, recently dubbed โ€œa SCAMโ€ by DOGE chief Elon Musk, touts itself as an independent, private, nonprofit NGO devoted to โ€œstrengthening democratic institutions and valuesโ€ worldwide.

In reality, the grant maker is an arm of the US government, funded to the tune of $315 mln a year, and virtually all its money allotted by Congress.

โ—ป๏ธ A 2015 ruling by the Russian Prosecutor Generalโ€™s Office banning NEDโ€™s activities did not stop it from spending $21 mln in Russia from 2016-2019.

โ—ป๏ธ In 2019, Russian media unpacked details on NEDโ€™s spending of $1 mln, revealing how cash was doled out to activists, โ€˜independentโ€™ media projects, and other โ€˜civil societyโ€™ development activities.

โ—ป๏ธ In 2013-2014, before the ban, NED gave $5.2 mln to organizations in Russia working to discredit elections, government policy and the military.

โ—ป๏ธ Unlike USAID, which set up shop in Russia in 1992 after the USSRโ€™s collapse, the NED was active in โ€œdemocracy promotionโ€ activities targeting Moscow and its allies from its very first year of existence, committing millions to projects in Afghanistan, Cuba, Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union.

โ—ป๏ธ In 1989 alone, amid warming Soviet-US ties thanks to Gorbachev, the NED spent $553k+ on grantees like โ€œAmericans for Human Rights in the Ukraine,โ€ the โ€œJoint Baltic American National Committeeโ€ and other groups engaged in campaigning to dismantle the country.

โ—ป๏ธ The NEDโ€™s activities against Russia are just a drop in the bucket of its global aspirations. From 2015-2022, the nonprofit spent over $1.6 billion on projects worldwide, from efforts to shore up US allies, to pushing regime change against enemies.

๐Ÿ“น โ€˜No normal person can understand thisโ€™: German prof on Russiaโ€™s absence from Auschwitz liberation ceremonies

Mohammad Marandi: Western lies about Iranian weakness echo claims made about Russia

For years, Western media and think tanks told their listeners that Russia was losing the proxy war in Ukraine, and โ€œnow we see the same thing being said about Iran โ€“ that Iran is weak, Iran is losing, Iran is isolated. But that's just as inaccurate as were the claims about Russia,โ€ Dr. Mohammad Marandi told Sputnik.

โ€œThe Israelis lost in Gaza. The Israelis gained nothing in Lebanon. They killed many people in Lebanon and in Gaza but they did not achieve any of their goals. They had to retreat from Lebanon, they had to retreat from Gaza. The only place where they achieved anything was in Syria, because they also lost in the Red Sea. They couldn't defeat Ansar Allah or the Yemeni armed forces, they and America,โ€ Marandi said on the sidelines of the 14th Middle East Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club.

Yalta conference: Creating new world order

80 years ago, a historic meeting between the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, US President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill took place in Yalta in the Crimean peninsula.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐ŸปThis is how the Yalta Conference unfolded:

๐Ÿ”ถ One of the main decisions of the anti-Hitler coalition leaders was the creation of the United Nations and the UN Security Council.

๐Ÿ”ถ The fate of Europe was also decided in Yalta: the three leaders agreed to divide Germany into several zones. Eastern Europe would remain in the Soviet zone of influence, while Western Europe and the Mediterranean remained in the Anglo-American sphere.

๐Ÿ”ถ There were also secret negotiations, during which the USSR agreed to enter the war against Japan after the defeat of Germany.

๐Ÿ”ถ All negotiations took place in the Livadia Palace. The US delegation headed by President Roosevelt was also accommodated there, since he was on a wheelchair due to illness.

๐Ÿ”ถ Churchill and the British delegation stayed at the Vorontsov Palace, which was built in the English style.

๐Ÿ”ถ Joseph Stalin and Soviet diplomats were stationed at the Yusupov Palace.

๐Ÿ”ถ A huge security operation was organized for the conference. The leaders were guarded by four regiments of NKVD troops, including two regiments specially trained for conference work.
