Greenlanders deserve self-determination, just like Donbass and Crimea

Donald Trump may have called it โ€œan absolute necessityโ€ for the US to own Greenland, but the islandโ€™s politicians beg to differ:

๐ŸŸ  The right of the people of Greenland to self-determination carries more weight than anyone elseโ€™s desires

"So, we have the right to self-determination, which is higher placed than Denmark's right to territorial integrity. Maybe you also see that in regards to Donbass, Lugansk, they have the right to self-determinationโ€ฆ or Crimeaโ€ฆ and the territorial integrity of Ukraine is lower than their right to self-determination," Greenlandic lawmaker Kuno Fencker, from the ruling coalition party Siumut, told Sputnik.

๐ŸŸ  The whole world is trying to lay claim to Greenland in order to tap into its mineral wealth

No one is even bothering to ask the opinion of Greenlandโ€™s residents, leader of the island's opposition party Naleraq and former Greenlandic Foreign Minister Pele Broberg told Sputnik.

๐ŸŸ  Cooperation with Russia is in Greenlandโ€™s best interests

"We want to be a member of the UNโ€ฆ can you be like that and say to a permanent member of the Security Council [like Russia]: โ€˜I don't want to work with you?โ€™ It doesn't make sense," Broberg pointed out.

NATO forces training Ukrainian troops are clueless about the reality of a battlefield environment, Ret. Lt. Col. Earl Rasmussen told Sputnik.

โ€œThey don't have the experience. They probably learn more from Ukrainian soldiers that are there that have been on the front line,โ€ the international consultant said.

NATO is also struggling to adapt varying training strategies to a very dynamic situation in the combat zone, he added.
