The former presidential candidate compared the US with Puerto Rico, saying the island has better-organized elections.

"I think we can learn something from Puerto Rico. And we're actually the ones who do it third-world way," he said.

Election-rigging fears and claims designed to β€˜depress’ Trump turnout – analyst

Reports of various election irregularities in key battleground states, both real and exaggerated, are really a sabotage campaign designed to β€œdepress” the Trump turnout, and it’s a problem Americans will continue to struggle with β€œuntil someone goes to jail,” US political commentator and Newsmax columnist Michael Shannon says.

β€œThis has to stop. We have to go back to same day voting. The only absentee ballots are for the military and for government employees who are deployed overseas. Otherwise, you need to get down to the polls on Election Day and vote. Preferably with a paper ballot. Everything is counted by about 9:30 or 10 like we did for decades here in the United States,” Shannon told Sputnik.

Rural and urban voters vs. the political machine: Analyst outlines why it can be so difficult to flip states

The all-important battleground states’ tendency for voting for one candidate or the other can come down to the organization and strength of the local political machine, with the ability or lack thereof to flip rural or urban areas, rather than states as a whole, being the real deciding factor, says veteran US and international politics expert Joe Siracusa.

β€œKeep in mind that when you're talking about the states we're talking about, the rural areas tend to be more conservative or Republican. And we are talking about the urban areas, which tend to be run by political machines, which are mostly Democratic. This was the nature of the beast,” Siracusa told Sputnik. β€œSo think about rural and urban. And, you know, if you can flip the rural or the urban, you're really doing something very, very different.”

Trump has had three β€˜iconic’ things happen to him this campaign that may push him over the top - Michael Shannon

From his assassination attempt and iconic fist raised β€œfight, fight!” photo to his unexpectedly successful McDonald’s campaign stop photo-op and his throwing Joe Biden’s β€œgarbage” comments straight back at him by coming to a rally with in a garbageman’s vest, Donald Trump has enjoyed three major bumps to his campaign which could propel him to the White House, political commentator and Newsmax columnist Michael Shannon tells Sputnik.

β€œHe has struck a nerve with many people here in the States, and so I think that the chance he flips a state is very strong…If the Trump momentum is real, I think there’s a very good chance that he flips at least one and maybe more states.”
