โ—๏ธ EXCLUSIVE: Criticize NATO, get couped?

Bolivian President Luis Arce sharply criticized the NATO military alliance in an exclusive interview with Sputnik just over two weeks ago, on June 7, on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024.

โ€œI believe that NATO's actions are putting world peace at risk,โ€ the leader insisted. โ€œWe have seen it not only here in Europe, but also in Latin America,โ€ he noted, referring to the blocโ€™s attempts to form partnerships with the historical US ally Colombia and, more recently, with Javier Mileiโ€™s Argentina. โ€œWe see with great concern that NATO is acting in several countries in the region where it previously did not participate, where it did not exist.โ€

โ€œWe see how NATO acts in other places and where it has gone, there have been problemsโ€ฆ We do not share the militarist, liberal objectives it proposes when what the planet needs today is peace,โ€ the president emphasized.

Western countries have historically interfered throughout Latin America and in Bolivia in particular, where the CIA collaborated with the notorious Nazi torture chief Klaus Barbie to persecute leftists. The United States backed a coup in the Andean country in 2019, having long objected to former President Evo Moralesโ€™ anti-imperialist government. Observers suggest the US maintains a keen interest in the countryโ€™s lithium deposits, which are some of the largest in the world.

It is planned that domestic shipbuilders will deliver more than 40 ships to the Russian Defense Ministry in 2024, the Russian president added.

Radical Zelensky's regime willing to sacrifice own people for anti-Russia crusade โ€“ analyst

Security analyst Mark Sleboda claims the โ€œideologicalโ€ Kiev regime is unfazed by the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands, or even a million, of its own citizens in its crusade against the Russian nation.

โ€œThere haven't been any costs for the US. Lots of costs for Europe - blowback from sanctions and everything. But for the US, not so much cost really,โ€ Sleboda clarified on Sputnikโ€™s Fault Lines program.

โ€œIf Ukraine loses a million men, the US doesn't care,โ€ emphasized host Jamarl Thoumas. โ€œAt the end of the day the argument they're going to make is the same: they're not Americans, we're getting rid of our own junk. We get to buy new weapons.โ€

โ€œThe Kiev regime feels the same way,โ€ Sleboda claimed, to the surprise of the programโ€™s hosts.

โ€œThey're ideological, right?โ€ he continued. โ€œA lot of the people that they are press ganging and conscripting to fight right now they don't even consider to be proper Ukrainians. A lot of them are Russian ethnic, Russian speaking, right? Or those who aren't politically loyal to the Kiev regime, and they don't care if they lose those people.โ€

The Ukrainian strike on the Russian city of Sevastopol using US-provided ATACMS munitions constitutes terrorism and an act of war by the United States, independent US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said.

โ€œThe word that describes this is terrorism. It is an act of war by the US against Russian civilians,โ€ Kennedy emphasized in a statement via social media platform X.

Only the US Congress is authorized to declare war, the politician highlighted. Lawmakers should stop the โ€œunaccountable and reckless hawksโ€ directing US President Joe Biden, Kennedy insisted.

โ€˜Putin will not take the baitโ€™: Russia will respond prudently to Crimea attack

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be goaded into a reckless and impulsive response to Ukraineโ€™s killing of Russian civilians in Sevastopol on Sunday, said filmmaker Regis Tremblay, but will carefully consider its options as it works to construct a multipolar world order.

โ€œThis has been a war โ€“ a declared war โ€“ by the United States of America on Russiaโ€ฆ Ukraine has been a pawn,โ€ said the documentarian on Sputnikโ€™s The Critical Hour program.

Nevertheless, the filmmaker noted that โ€œPutin has never acted impulsively.โ€

โ€œWill Russia respond? Yes, certainly it will respond, but not in a way that will trigger World War Three,โ€ said the filmmaker. โ€œPresident Putin has made it very clear that he is not going to do anything that would inadvertently trigger a nuclear war between the United States and Russia.โ€

โ€œSergey Lavrov, the foreign minister, has been traveling throughout Asia and through Africa signing agreements, long-term agreements for development, for strategic partnerships and for military partnerships,โ€ he noted. โ€œThis is, to me, how Russia is responding to the neverending United States escalation on Russia. Putin will not take the bait.โ€

United States pushes the envelope on press freedom, nuclear threat

Activist Dr. Margaret Flowers offered insight on Wikileaks founder Julian Assangeโ€™s release from prison on Sputnikโ€™s The Critical Hour program, drawing parallels between the erosion of press freedoms and the deterioration of international norms designed to prevent the possibility of nuclear war.

โ€œForcing him to plead to a felony when he did not commit a crimeโ€ฆ doesn't set a positive legal precedent that we need, which is that journalists, publishers, publish classified material all the time and that the Espionage Act should not apply to them,โ€ said Flowers.

โ€œAssange was tortured. His health has deteriorated. He has lost all of these years of his life, years of life with his children and his wife, andโ€ฆ he should also be compensated for what has been done to him. So justice has definitely not been served in this,โ€ the activist highlighted.

The erosion of civil liberties takes place as the world fears it could find itself in a nuclear war amid armed conflict and the reemergence of tensions between Russia and the West. The United States has worked to weaken international agreements designed to prevent a nuclear exchange, host Wilmer Leon noted, going back to the George W. Bush administration allowing the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START I) to expire.

โ€œOf course [US President Joe] Biden has done nothing about the Iran agreement, which he promised that he would reinstateโ€ฆ during his campaign,โ€ Flowers noted. โ€œIt was under the Obama administration that the US started this trillion-dollar program to upgrade the nuclear weapons. And there's actually a mindset in Washington, DC, that we could launch 'limited nuclear strikes' or tactical nuclear strikes. This is madness. If we began a nuclear war, it's going to be devastating for the world.โ€

Boliviaโ€™s coup attempt: Three hours that failed to rock the nation

President Luis Arce has thanked Bolivians for support after his country went through an attempted coup, which left at least nine people suffered gunshot wounds.

How did the events unfold?

๐Ÿ”น On June 26, troops led by General Juan Jose Zuniga, former commander-in-chief of the Bolivian army, stormed the Casa Grande presidential palace and took up positions in the square outside, amid reports that a tank had rammed the palace doors.

๐Ÿ”น The general was fired on June 25 for his political attacks on former Bolivian President Evo Morales, who plans to seek another term in 2025.

๐Ÿ”น Zuniga did not explicitly say he was leading a coup, but at the palace he argued that the army was trying to "restore democracy and free our [Bolivian] political prisoners."

๐Ÿ”น Shortly thereafter, state television showed President Arce confronting Zuniga in the palace hallway, saying, "I am your captain and I order you to withdraw your soldiers, and I will not allow this insubordination.

๐Ÿ”น Arce thanked Bolivia's police and regional allies for standing by him and then named a new army commander, Jose Wilson Sanchez, who immediately ordered the troops to stand down.

๐Ÿ”น Shortly thereafter, the armored vehicles left the plaza, followed by scores of soldiers, as Zuniga was taken into custody along with former Navy Vice Admiral Juan Arnez Salvador. In all, the coup attempt lasted about three hours.

๐Ÿ”น Hours later, Defense Minister Edmundo Novillo told reporters that "everything is now under control" and that Bolivia had experienced a "failed coup.

๐Ÿ”น The Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal investigation, and Morales has condemned the coup attempt and demanded that Zuniga and his "accomplices" be prosecuted.

Joe unable to perform regular duties โ€” US journalist Sean Hannity

"At least 16 aides are helping Biden prepare with mocked debates and strategy sessions. Also, according to reports, Biden's intensive week-long debate prep at Camp David also includes exercises where Biden practices standing up for a whole 90 minutes straight," Hannity said on air on Fox News.

According to Hannity, most Americans believe that Biden could be taking some drugs in order to "help his ailing memory and his poor stamina."

"A vast majority of our viewers believe that it's going to be a jacked-up, hyper-caffeinated Joe that's going to show up at Thursday's debate, like the State of the Union," the journalist added.
