Massive pro-Palestine protests engulf Malmo, Sweden
Over 10,000 demonstrators gathered in Malmo, Sweden to protest Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. The protesters lit smoke flares in the colors of the Palestinian flag, and chanted slogans such as "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" and "Israel is a terrorist state," while calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Despite local police describing the protest as "quiet," they, with the assistance of their Danish and Norwegian counterparts, erected metal barricades and large concrete blocks around Malmo Arena, where the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place.

US nuclear fuel company seeks permition to continue importing Russian uranium
The largest US company in nuclear fuel, Centrus, has said that it plans to ask for an exception after a law banning the importing of enriched Russian uranium is signed. The firm seeks to continue receiving this strategic material from the Russian Federation in order to ensure the interests of the industry.
Company representative Lindsey Geisler said in an interview with Axios that the rapid removal of the ban on the import of Russian uranium "is crucial not only for Centrus, but also for the entire US nuclear industry."
Centrus (previously known as USEC before going through a managed bankruptcy procedure) is the largest US "dealer", reselling enriched uranium to energy companies
On April 30, the US Senate passed a bill banning the importing of Russian uranium. At the same time, there is a provision that allows exceptions to the ban to be granted until 2027 if they meet the national interests.

China's leader and Hungary's prime minister held a joint press conference in which Viktor Orban underlined the risk of global war. The Hungarian argued that between prolonging the Ukraine conflict and making peace, Europe has decided in favor of the former.
"For two years we have been living in the shadow of war, and never before has there been such a risk of an international, even global, war as there is now... Europe today is on the side of war, with the only exception being Hungary, which is calling for an immediate ceasefire and peace," he said at the presser.
Orban also stressed that the global economy is different from 20 years ago.
"Then we were living in a unilateral world order, now we're living in a multilateral world order" and one of the pillars of such new pattern is China, he said.

Xi-Orban sit-down: What China and Hungary's leaders agreed on
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held talks in Budapest on Thursday as part of the Chinese leaderβs final stop on his five-day European tour. What was on the agenda?
πΈ The negotiations saw the sides sign 18 new agreements to deepen bilateral economic and cultural cooperation, including accords on nuclear energy, investments and tourism.
πΈ Xi told reporters after the talks that Beijing and Budapest had agreed to elevate bilateral relations to βan all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era.β
πΈ βThis year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Hungary, ushering in a new and important opportunity for the development of bilateral relationship," the Chinese leader pointed out.
πΈ Xi added that during the Thursday talks, Orban, in particular, agreed that Chinaβs Belt and Road Initiative βis highly consistent with Hungaryβs strategy of opening to the east.β
πΈ The Chinese leader also voiced hope that Hungary, which is to hold the rotating EU presidency in the second half of the year, will play an active role in promoting βthe healthy and stable development of China-EU relations.β
πΈ In a similar vein, Orban, who touted China as βone of the pillars of the new world order," stressed that Hungarian-Chinese trade had quadrupled in the past 20 years, transforming bilateral relations into "a strategic partnership."
πΈ The prime minister recalled that 20 years ago, Chinese investment was so small in Hungary that a "magnifying glass" was needed to find it. Last year, however, three-quarters of all foreign investment in Hungary was by China, he said, adding that it helped provide jobs for tens of thousands of Hungarians.
