Euromaidan: Color Revolution that brought Ukraine to ruin
Tuesday is the 10th anniversary of the start of the Euromaidan (lit. โEuro Squareโ) protests in Kiev. Three months after the unrest began, in February 2014, the crisis culminated in the ouster of Ukraineโs democratically elected government, and its replacement with a fanatically pro-European, pro-NATO regime. What did the protesters want? And what did ordinary Ukrainians get?
โUkraine is Europeโ
โช๏ธ Wanted: Association Agreement with the European Union and speedy integration into the bloc, meaning economic aid, access to EU markets, and visa free travel with Schengen Zone countries.
โช๏ธ Got: Uprisings in Crimea and the Donbass culminating in their breaking off from Ukraine, restricted access to EU markets and โanti-dumpingโ measures among bloc members bordering Ukraine, widespread depopulation (from 45.5 million in 2013 to as few as 19 million now), and vague promises on possible EU membership โdecadesโ from now, to quote French President Emmanuel Macron.

โEconomic prosperityโ
โช๏ธ Wanted: Western levels of economic prosperity facilitated by charting a โEuropean courseโ and breaking off centuries of economic integratory ties with Russia.

โNo to corruptionโ
โช๏ธ Wanted: An end to political corruption and largesse and a shrinking of the wealth gap between the countryโs poorest and wealthiest citizens.
โช๏ธ Got: โA country that is corrupt at all levels of society,โ in former European Commission President Jean-Claude Junckerโs words, and a slight increase in the GINI coefficient measuring inequality from 24.6 points in 2013 to 25.6 points in 2020.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has lambasted Josep Borrell's recent article over the EU's morbid attraction to Ukraine that only shows their utter ignorance and dwelling in some โeroticโ illusions about present-day realities.
โI adore these fantastic, foolish columns and articles written by certain groups under the signature of those who cannot only write but have long forgotten how to read.
All these op-eds by Borrells and Bidens, they are not even trying to edit them. But they better should.
Right after an article attributed to the US president, just stumbled upon an interesting tidbit about Josep Borrell's latest article, 'In the Eye of the Hurricane.' Did you know that the title is also the name of a 70s erotic film, 'El ojo del huracรกn,' shot in Borrell's homeland, Spain?
Back when the film was released, Borrell was 24, and it looks like he watched it. The plot involves a wealthy woman, Ruth, opting for a divorce to pursue an erotomaniac named Paul. After that, Ruth is targeted for murder and is periodically raped.
Now, one might wonder, what does this have to do with Ukraine? Your guess is as good as mine! Maybe it's a metaphorical hurricane of geopolitical affairs? Or just a curious coincidence?โ

โI believe that the development of digital technologies and the already announced plans for the introduction of the digital ruble, the digital yuan and the digital rupee will lead us, perhaps as early as next year, to move first to digital settlement in national currencies. There are no endless restrictions and regulatory fears of sanctions,โ Sergei Glazyev, the Eurasian Economic Unionโs minister for integration and macroeconomics, told Sputnik.

Mohammed Alaoul, an Anadolu Agency cameraman from the Gaza Strip, lost all his family, including 4 sons, after Israeli airstrike on the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza Strip. He told Sputnik how this tragedy occurred.
"On October 24, at approximately 10:20 pm, an Israeli airstrike destroyed my house and several neighboring ones.
That day, I was working in Khan Yunis, which is quite far from home. I'm a cameraman, and I can work at any location even for 2 weeks without appearing at home. I didn't know at all what to do.
Then fellow photographers told me that the wounded and killed were being taken to the closest hospital to our house - the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. I asked them to seek if my relatives were brought here. A few hours later they sent me photos of my wife, middle son, and brother, they were wounded, but alive.
Then I asked to look for my family members in the tent where the corpses were collected. Qais, my eldest son, was here. When I saw his corpse photo, my heart almost broke."

Houthi Seizure of Galaxy Leader: What are the economic implications?
In spite of the estimated $50 million cost/value of the ship, from an economic point of view, it is actually of little worth to the Houthis. They can't sell it, they can't use it, [Israeli billionaire Rami Unger] and his insurance companies probably won't ransom it. The ship was sailing without cargo, which if it had been, would have been approximately 1,500 new cars, worth between $20 and $30 million in total. So, clearly, there was no economic benefit from the seizure of the vessel for the Houthis, but the full political and economic ramifications remain to be seen.
It should be understood that the Houthis have not just seized the Galaxy Leader, they have put all Israeli shipping in the Red Sea under threat. The value of that shipping can be roughly estimated by the fact that out of Israel's $165 billion in total exports in 2022, 24% went to Asian markets. The shortest shipping route from the Mediterranean to Asia is the Suez Canal. Everything that goes through the Suez Canal goes through the Red Sea, and 12% of all global trade passes through the Suez Canal. With these calculations, the economic impact on the Israeli economy by the seizure of this single ship can be estimated in the billions of dollars. The Houthi area of military operations in the southern Red Sea is more than 1,000 miles from Israel, and beyond the reach of timely Israeli military response.
Economic warfare and military warfare are two sides of the same coin. The Houthis, with one helicopter and less than a dozen commandos, have hit the Israeli economy as hard as the entire Israeli military is hitting the people of Gaza.

Why Have Western Leaders Flocked to Kiev... Again?
Western leaders have flocked to Kiev to celebrate the Euromaidan revolution, a euphemism for the 2014 illegitimate coup d'etat in Ukraine. However, their real goal is to test the Kiev regime's viability and look for a convenient replacement of Volodymyr Zelensky, who has become "catastrophically toxic" for both the US and Europe, Dmitry Evstafiev, political scientist and HSE University professor, told Sputnik.
While the US, the UK and the EU pursue different geopolitical goals in Kiev, their interests overlap when it comes to convincing an ordinary Western voter that their choice of pitting Ukraine against Russia made in 2013 was right, the professor noted. Still, their efforts are futile, according to him.
