Does TikTok support Palestine?

In the United States, several Washington lawmakers have accused the Chinese network of shaping the views of American youth on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The administration of TikTok has refuted this and, armed with sociology, has claimed that the problem is not the algorithms but that young people support Palestine and nothing can be done about it.

Content with the hashtag โ€œfreepalestineโ€ has already received 27.3 billion views, while content with the hashtag โ€œstandwithisraelโ€ has only 484.1 million.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Three of Israel's seven reconnaissance aerostats, which could have warned the Israeli authorities of Hamas' October 7 attack, were inoperable that day because of the government's alleged failure to upgrade and maintain the equipment, Daily Mail reported, citing security sources.

The inoperable spy balloons made Israel's defense line along the Gaza border vulnerable. The failure to operate the aerostats may be attributed to insufficient funding.

The aerostats, equipped with a payload of cameras, sensors and spyware, have long been a key part of Israel's early warning system, and had they functioned properly, the outcome of the Hamas attack might have been different, the newspaper reported.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Divisions are brewing within the Democratic camp over Washington's support to Israel's Gaza war

At the weekend, Senator Bernie Sanders called to condition Israeli aid on certain demands, which included significant pauses in the ground operation; no re-occupation or blockade of the Gaza Strip; ending settler violence and expansion in the West Bank; and a commitment for a two-state solution after the war.

Even though Vice President Kamala Harris earlier stated that the White House is "not going to create any conditions on the support that we are giving Israel to defend itself," the pressure within the Democratic party is growing with more and more Dems calling for a ceasefire.

Does Israel export oil and gas?

Israel has been striving to ensure energy independence and substantially developed its oil and gas sector over the last decades. Last year the Jewish state joined the club of "crude exporters", while in 2017 it started to sell natural gas to its Arab neighbors in Jordan.

Israel's natural gas reserves have grown by 40% from 780 billion cubic meters in 2012 to 1,087 bcm at the end of 2022 due to the nation's extensive drilling and exploration activities in the eastern Mediterranean. Tel Aviv is eyeing multinational projects to deliver its fuel to Europe and Asia. However, Israel's bold energy endeavors may be delayed and derailed if the ongoing Gaza conflict spills over into neighboring countries.

Does Israel export oil and gas and how could the conflict derail the trade?

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US will reportedly reprimand 'aggressive' Israeli settlers in Palestine's West Bank

US President Joe Biden has ordered senior advisors to draft a directive exploring different options for legal measures against "violent" Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

Politico got a hold of a snippet of an official White House memo outlining a refined American approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. An anonymous senior US official read out some of its sections off the record following Bidenโ€™s published op-ed in the Washington Post relating to the Ukrainian and Gaza crises.

"President Joe Biden directed top officials to prepare visa bans and sanctions for extremist Israeli settlers attacking and displacing Palestinians in the West Bank," the article cites.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท News that right-wing politician Javier Milei had won the Argentine presidential election received a mixed reaction from neighboring South American countries:

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ด Colombia's left-wing president Gustavo Petro said the result was "sad" for the region because "neo-liberalism no longer has any proposals for society, it cannot answer the current problems of humanity".

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazil's president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, wished Milei good luck, although Milei has said he has no interest in cooperating with Brazil and has no desire to join the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) bloc, calling instead for respect for the voice of the people.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ด Bolivia's president Luis Arce said he hoped to develop friendly relations with Argentina, based on fraternity and mutual respect.

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Mexico's foreign minister Alicia Barcena said that both countries share common democratic values, and Mexico is ready to work with the new Argentine authorities.

๐Ÿช– New report offers revelations about foreign mercenaries in Ukraine

After the failed "Summer Offensive" by the Ukrainian Army, which saw estimates of Ukrainian losses in excess of 90 thousand, somehow, in spite of these tremendous losses, the Ukrainian lines continue to hold. How is this possible?

One of the main factors is the presence of thousands of foreign mercenaries working in Ukraine. There have been multiple reports of radio intercepts on Ukrainian military frequencies in English, Polish, Arabic and other foreign languages, along with reports from some front line sectors that up to 50% of the enemy forces are foreign mercenaries. And now, specific information has come to light about hundreds of applicants and actual mercenaries working in Ukraine - names, countries of origin, military experience, phone numbers and even photocopies of passports.
