🇷🇺💰 Zelenskys’ Crimea apartment sold at auction for more than $450,000, proceeds go to supporting Russian troops

An apartment outside Yalta registered to Olena Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has sold at auction for the equivalent of about $475,000. The upscale digs, located in the village of Livadia on Crimea’s south coast in the ‘Imperator’ residential complex, was nationalized by Crimean authorities back in May. The auction’s winner offered the equivalent of $475,000 for the apartment – about $214,000 more than the starting price.

Crimean parliament chief Vladimir Konstantinov previously indicated that proceeds from the sale of the property of Ukrainian politicians in Crimea would be spent to support soldiers involved in the military operation in Ukraine and members of their families, and for the development of the peninsula’s cities.

🇵🇸🇮🇱 Massive debris after Israeli strikes pulverized Gaza may offer a protective “cover” for Hamas militant group’s infrastructure hidden in underground tunnels, Andrey Koshkin, a retired colonel and expert of the Association of Military Political Scientists, told Sputnik.

To some extent, this rubble may present an obstacle for the IDF amid its expanded ground operations in the enclave, said the expert.

However, he added that if Israeli military determine that Hamas militants or infrastructure are hidden under the debris, bombs will be used that can blast through the wreckage to reach the target.

🇺🇸 In an interview with US television that aired on Sunday, US Vice President Kamala Harris assured American voters that US President Joe Biden is still “very much alive” as she deflected a question about the president’s increasing age.

"Joe Biden is very much alive and running for re-election,” Harris told journalist Bill Whitaker, adding that she does "not have time for parlor games."

An increasing number of Americans have said they are worried about Biden’s age. One poll last month found 52.21% said they were “very concerned” and another 22.1% said they were “somewhat concerned” about the 80-year-old leader’s cognitive health.

🇵🇸 More children have now been killed in Gaza over the past three weeks than perished in conflicts across the globe during any year since 2019.

That’s according to a report by Save the Children, a London-headquartered international children’s rights non-profit.
Per the charity’s figures, based on data from the Gazan and Israeli health ministries, some 3,195 children were reported killed in Gaza since the October 7 escalation, with another 33 perishing in the West Bank, and 29 in Israel, for a total of 3,257.

That’s far more than the number of children killed in any other armed conflict across some 20 nations throughout 2023, and the highest number since 2019, the charity says.
