๐Ÿ—ฃ On the rise of African integration:

โ€œI don't think that the US and Europe can move against African integrationโ€ฆ And I think that Africa's integration will find strong support from China, from Russia, from India, from Brazil, in other words, from the BRICS leading countries, and so from South Africa. So I think the economic integration in Africa is so needed and will be so powerful that it really is likely to continue,โ€ Jeffrey Sachs, a Columbia University economist, told Sputnik.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ EU mulls 'siphoning profits' from billions of illegally frozen Russian assets

The blocโ€™s plan, according to a draft paper cited by a US media outlet, is to impose a windfall tax on profits generated by the aforementioned assets, and funnel the money into the EU budget. The European Commission is gearing up for a meeting on the issue with officials from France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Italy on September 21, and after that will discuss the plan with all member states, sources were cited as saying.

A working group formed by the commission has ostensibly argued the need to follow a step-by-step implementation of the three key proposals contained in the draft paper.

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ The Finnish President calls on the West to maintain relations with Russia

"I donโ€™t mean any great friendship, but the capability to tolerate, even understand each other a bit," Niinisto said in an interview, adding that trust will be needed after the end of the Ukraine conflict to ensure that "a new war is not waiting behind the door."

Speaking about the risks of a nuclear war, Niinisto said that countries supplying weapons to Ukraine need to take into account the possible escalation of the conflict into "a big war, thatโ€™s world war."

๐Ÿ’ฌ"Weโ€™re in a very sensitive situation. Even small things can change matters a great deal and unfortunately for the worse. That is the risk of such large-scale warfare. The risk that nuclear weapons could be used is tremendous," the Finnish president added.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Thousands of Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Sunday for the 37th week of protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuโ€™s judicial reform, following a Supreme Court hearing against interfering with the country's fundamental laws, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

The symbol of the protest in Tel Aviv was the 1948 Israeli Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed the establishment of the country and set out the basic principles of its existence as a democratic Jewish state.

Israeli Supreme Court began reviewing petitions against a July legal reform that curtails its power to overturn government decisions, potentially leading to the first-ever Supreme Court intervention in Israel's history and a deeper constitutional crisis.
