๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russia to allocate $20.7 billion in the coming years for the development of new regions - Putin

The money is to be spent in accordance with the government's program for the socioeconomic development of Russia's new regions, adopted on April 27. The first stage, according to the president, is to bring the four new regions up to all-Russian levels in terms of social issues, including medical care, education and infrastructure development.

The government's program is already being implemented. For example, the Russian government's Territorial Development Fund will repair more than 3,600 infrastructure facilities in Russia's new regions, according to the fund's statement released on Wednesday.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Iranian officials have disclosed a significant alleged Israeli intelligence plot to sabotage Iran's defense sector.

The scheme involved installing faulty, foreign-made connector components with explosives on domestic defense equipment, such as missiles and drones. The plan, discovered around nine years ago, aimed to disrupt production lines, harm defense industry workers, or disable weapons during emergencies. Iran detected and rectified the flawed connectors before they could be utilized in defense production.

Deputy Defense Minister Reza Talaei-Nik revealed that Iranian intelligence had gathered basic information about these connector components in 2015, and Deputy Defense Minister Mehdi Farahi described the agents involved as a "very professional network" that sought to infiltrate Iran's defense sector.

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the operator of the damaged Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Fukushima-1), has detected tritium (T, or 3H - a radioactive substance) in the seawater on the northeastern shoreline of the port in proximity to the facility. This signals the initial detection of tritium since the release of treated, low-grade radioactive water commenced.

On August 24, 2023, Japan began releasing water from the damaged Fukushima-1 facility into the Pacific Ocean, following approval from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Previously, the water's primary function was to cool down damaged reactors. Subsequently, it underwent treatment in the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS), jointly developed by EnergySolutions and Toshiba.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ There is an ongoing debate among defense officials about the future of the US military presence in Eastern Europe, with some arguing that maintaining the 4,300 troops would be useless considering their presence has not deterred Russia. However, others deem their presence necessary to show support for NATO countries, media reported, citing three defense officials.

Uniformed defense officials have recommended Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin maintain the force and rotate the troops, whereas policy officials reportedly advised against the recommendation.

US media further indicated that a third option has been proposed to the Defense Department, which calls for the partial rotation of the 4,300 troops to reinforce NATOโ€™s Eastern Flank, the report added.

The US Department of Defense revealed a new website on Thursday that will serve as a "one-stop shop" to declassified information on all things UFOs, or unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

Despite crashing on launch day, the "All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office" (AARO) page was quickly reestablished by officials, and is now expected to be available for reports from โ€œcurrent or US Government employees, service members, or contractors with direct knowledge of US Government programs or activities related to UAP dating back to 1945.โ€ The reports, according to the website, will then be used to โ€œinform AAROโ€™s congressionally directed Historical Record Report.โ€

The Blendon Township Police Department has released body-worn camera footage of the fatal shooting of 21-year-old pregnant woman Ta'Kiya Young in a grocery store parking lot on August 24. This move comes in response to calls from the Young family to hold the involved officers accountable.

The video shows an officer by Young's locked vehicle, informing her of an alleged theft accusation. Young expresses her objections and denies any wrongdoing, leading the officer to request her exit. In the tense encounter, Young questions if the officers intend to fire their weapons. When she starts moving her car forward, the second officer fires multiple shots, some of which pierce the car's front windshield.

Material discovered on the ocean floor near Papua New Guinea, enriched in metals like beryllium, lanthanum, and uranium, is believed to originate from beyond our solar system, according to a recent study led by Harvard University astronomer Avi Loeb. The fragments are thought to be remnants of a meteor classified as IM1, which had an unusual velocity and was tracked by US government satellites before falling into the Pacific Ocean in 2014.

The study, however, has faced criticism from some researchers, as Loeb has a history of controversial claims related to extraterrestrial phenomena.

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US ban on visiting North Korea part of 'demonization' of DPRK

There was "no substance" to the government's claims, Betsy Yoon, a member of the Nodutdol for Korean Community Development group, believes, stressing that her organisation had organized 11 education exposure programs to the DPRK between 2001 and 2015.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "One is to make people here feel like people in North Korea are sort of alien, very separate, and not think of them as everyday human beings," Yoon said commenting on the two main aims of the ban. "The second purpose is to make the case for that these people need to be rescued from themselves," noting that "military intervention is often stated as how this rescue can be effected."
