π·πΊπ Russian scientists succeed in growing watermelons in Antarctica
Polar explorers of Russiaβs Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute managed to grow eight "ripe and sweet" watermelons in 103 days using the soilless technology of panoponics. The institute also announced plans to work out technology for growing blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries in the Antarctic.
One of the goals of the experiment is to test plant growing technologies for a base on the Moon. The institute's director said that the greenhouse also has a positive effect on the mental health of polar explorers, who spend many months in a confined space and extremely low temperatures.

π£οΈ On how much Congress spends on nukes:
β75 billion is going to be the new number average over the next ten years... Why are we spending this money? We have to 'keep up with the Russians,' so to speak. And now there are people in Congress and in the military saying, 'Well, we have to be able to take out all the Chinese targets as well as all the Russian targets.' So we have sort of perceived increased demand for nuclear weapons,β Greg Mello, nuclear weapons expert and Executive Director of the Los Alamos Study Group, told Sputnik.
