๐ฐ๐ต NKorea confirms simulated use of nukes to โwipe outโ enemies
North Koreaโs recent barrage of missile launches were the simulated use of its tactical battlefield nuclear weapons to โhit and wipe outโ potential South Korean and US targets, state media reported Monday, as its leader Kim Jong Un signaled he would conduct more provocative tests.
KCNA said the missile tests were in response to recent naval drills between US and South Korean forces, which involved the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan for the first time in five years.
Viewing the drills as a military threat, North Korea decided to stage โthe simulation of an actual warโ to check and improve its war deterrence and send a warning to its enemies, KCNA said.

๐ฌ๐น 13 dead as Julia drenches Central America with rainfall
Now a tropical depression, former Hurricane Julia drenched Guatemala and El Salvador with torrential rains Monday after it reemerged in the Pacific following a pounding of Nicaragua. Thirteen people were reported dead as a direct or indirect result of the storm.
Julia hit Nicaraguaโs central Caribbean coast early Sunday as a hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 kph) and survived the passage over the countryโs mountainous terrain, entering the Pacific late in the day as a tropical storm. By Monday, Julia had moved inland over Guatemala and its winds were down to 35 mph (60 kph).
In Nicaragua, Vice President Rosario Murillo told TN8 television that 9,500 people had been evacuated to shelters. Heavy rains and evacuations were also reported in Panama, Honduras and Costa Rica, where some highways were closed due to the downpours.

๐ธ๐ฆ Key Senate chair urges US to freeze cooperation with Saudis
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez called Monday for freezing all U.S. cooperation with Saudi Arabia, delivering one of the strongest expressions yet of U.S. anger over Saudi oil-production cuts that serve to boost Russia.
In a statement, Menendez specifically called for cutting off all arms sales and security cooperation โ one of the underpinnings of the more than 70-year US strategic partnership with the oil kingdom โ beyond the minimum necessary to defend Americans and American interests.
The Democrats accuse Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdomโs de facto ruler, of effectively flouting the Saudi side of a decades-long bargain that has consisted of the US military and defense industry providing security for Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia in turn providing world markets with a reliable flow of oil.

๐บ๐ธ Small business group files suit over Biden student loan plan
The suit, filed Monday by the Job Creators Network Foundation, argues the Biden administration violated federal procedures by failing to seek public input on the program. The group had argued that Bidenโs order unlawfully circumvented Congressโ power over spending and said the plan was discriminatory because it sought to give particular help to borrowers of color.
Elaine Parker, president of Job Creators Network Foundation, slammed the program as executive overreach and complained that it does nothing to address the root cause of rising debt: the โoutrageous increase in college tuition that outpaces inflation every single year.โ
Six Republican-led states filed suit late last month, accusing the Biden administration of overstepping its executive powers, because the administration tries to push forward with its plan to cancel billions in debt before Novemberโs midterm elections.

๐ฒ๐ฝ Mexico files 2nd lawsuit against arms dealers in US
The Mexican government filed another lawsuit Monday against US companies it claims are responsible for the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico. The first lawsuit, targeted US gun manufacturers. The second, which Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said was filed in Arizona Monday. Ebrard said about 60% of the weapons seized in Mexico in recent years were believed to have been sold in 10 US counties. .
Mexico was seeking at least $10 billion in compensation, but legal experts had viewed the lawsuit as a long shot. The government estimates 70% of the weapons trafficked into Mexico come from the US, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry. It said that in 2019 alone, at least 17,000 homicides in Mexico were linked to trafficked weapons.

๐ช๐บ The EU has been trying to cut back on Russian oil, but it's still buying more of it than anyone else
Despite a pledge to wean itself off Russian energy, the European Union remained the largest importer of Russian fossil fuels in September, according to a report from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, or CREA.
From the start of the Ukraine conflict until late September, the EU spent more than 100 billion euros, or $97 billion, on Russian fossil fuel imports, the report found.
China is the second-biggest buyer of Russian oil, behind the EU. The emerging markets of India, Turkey, and Malaysia have been snapping up Russian fuel, with imports rising significantly.

๐บ๐ธ โThank you for honoring your people, Lizโ: Netizens poked fun at US Senator Elizabeth Warren after she posted a celebration tweet on Indigenous Peoples' Day
"You just happen to celebrate this day a little bit more than most people," one of the tweeters replied to the Democratic senator of Massachusetts - but what could have caused such a reaction?
Warren previously claimed Native American heritage while teaching at Harvard Law School and was even described as the "first woman of color" to teach at that institution. Just to prove it, the 73-year-old released a DNA test in 2018 revealing that she was between 1/64 and 1/1024 Native American - which in fact means that she is less Native American than most average Caucasian Americans.

๐ฌ "Why in the world would any child or their parents want to block puberty?": Planned Parenthood, a US non-profit organization that provides reproductive healthcare, was slammed by netizens for the ad which tells children that they can get puberty blockers to โput their puberty on holdโ.
"If youโre transgender or non-binary, you may find that your puberty experiences donโt line up with your gender identity or how you see yourself," the narrator says. The video then recommends puberty blockers to delay the onset of puberty.
"Why is Planned Parenthood now giving medical advice to children? This should be illegal," wrote one of those on Twitter.
"Besides all the lies, and inaccuracies, 'Talk to your trusted adult or doctor' - notice how they don't include the parent," another user said.
