One year ago, a US drone struck the home of Abdul Bashir in Badakhshan province, Afghanistan. The man was seriously injured, lost 5 sons, 2 daughters, his wife, and his uncle's wife.

The US never paid him any compensation for the destroyed house, with the damage amounting to about 15 million afghanis ($165,000).

The strike on Abdul Bashir’s house wasn’t even covered by the media at the time, with many journalists having left the province for fear of the Taliban*.
