π Ford is laying off 3,000 employees
The company is laying off employees and contract workers, with the cuts primarily affecting staff in the US, Canada, and India. Chairman Bill Ford and CEO Jim Farley sent a memo on Monday informing staff of the layoffs, with affected workers being told later this week.
βBuilding this future requires changing and reshaping virtually all aspects of the way we have operated for more than a century,β Ford and Farley said in the memo.
Ford isnβt the only automotive company to lay off employees in recent weeks. Rivian laid off 6 percent of its staff, Ford-backed startup Argo AI laid off about 150 employees, and Tesla laid off workers who helped train its Autopilot AI system.

βοΈ Elon Musk subpoenas former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey
As Twitter and Elon Musk prepare for their October 17th trial date in the Delaware Court of Chancery to argue over his attempt to break their $44 billion acquisition agreement, Muskβs legal team submitted a subpoena for evidence from a familiar face: former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
Dorsey stepped down as Twitter CEO for the second time last November and handed control of the company he helped create to Parag Agrawal.
Itβs tough to say what information Dorsey has that Musk couldnβt obtain by just texting him! But with billions of dollars on the line, Muskβs legal team is casting out all lines to support his argument the company is not telling the truth about measurements of bots and spam among the daily active users on its platform.

π House of the Dragon premiere crashes HBO Max
The premiere of "House of the Dragon" drew 9.986 million viewers across linear and HBO Max platforms in the US Sunday night, the largest audience for any new original series in the history of HBO. The premiere also marked the largest series launch on HBO Max across the US, LatAm, and EMEA.
Besides the debut, there have been plenty of complaints about the HBO Max streaming apps since they launched, it appears that most of the people having problems are using an Amazon Fire TV platform, or a Fire Stick.
In a statement, HBOβs Chris Willard said, βWeβre aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users.β

π·ββοΈ 7,000 construction workers wanted for Intel chip plants
Ohioβs largest-ever economic development project comes with a big employment challenge: how to find 7,000 construction workers in an already booming building environment when thereβs also a national shortage of people working in the trades.
At hand is the $20 billion semiconductor manufacturing operation near the stateβs capital, announced by Intel earlier this year. When the two factories, known as fabs, open in 2025, the facility will employ 3,000 people with an average salary of around $135,000.
The siteβs 5 million square feet (464,515 square meters) is equivalent to nearly nine football fields. To win the project, Ohio offered Intel roughly $2 billion in incentives, including a 30-year tax break.
