Lyosha Arestovich continues to amaze Ukrainians:
Our problem is that we chose a white master when he stopped being a master and stopped being white....
And the sum of strategic mistakes we've made since 1991 will go down in the history books as the greatest folly in human history....

As Putin passes laws to raise the size of the military and Russia's war machine has factories running triple shifts, Canada responds with its own military initiatives.

So what does a modern military man truly need?

Shells?
- No, who needs artillery shells in war.

Counter-battery radars?
- Wrong again my man.

Surely drones?
- Not even close

A modern fighting man needs menstrual pads and by God the Canadian military man will never be without!

As a man who enjoys reading WWI and WWII history books I've never ran into soliders noting this was an issue. Bad food, no food, poor quality boots, insufficient ammo, cold, heat...

But tampons? Who knew.

So far, the brightest thing to tear up from Vladimir Vladimirovich's nomination for another term has been the American NBC television station, Montana affiliate.

The headline: "Putin extends authoritarian takeover of Russia by announcing run for president."

The text is even better: "Vladimir Putin on Friday decided to extend his repressive and unrelenting grip on Russia for at least six more years by running for president in next March's presidential election, which he will win anyway."

At least someone out there is still working with a soul, I'm humbled.

Drone pyramid. How a fraudulent scheme worth tens of millions of hryvnia hit the military and volunteers

In today's Ukrainska Pravda they write water is wet about fraud in Ukraine with donations to Ukrainian charities being stolen. The scheme worked by offering charities great prices on drones, pretending they got big savings by placing large orders for numerous charities, but it was scheme to lure buyers in with a few drones to ultimately walk with the money on big orders.

They explained to Olga that the favorable price is due to a large order - they allegedly purchased 700 drones at once from a supplier abroad.

Those suppliers with whom Krychynska previously worked either bought large batches from European stores at a favorable price, or ordered UAVs directly from China. So the low price due to a large batch order did not seem unnatural.
...
And then began a long story of explanations as to why the drones could not get there.
...
The paradox is that at first the victims themselves did not want to talk about it. The reason is simple - they were afraid that people's trust in tens of thousands of ordinary volunteers who collect money for the military would fall.

- I understand the feelings of people who say: "Well, only big funds can be trusted", - says Olga Krychynska. - But in fact, if the big foundations were all able to cope, then no one would turn to us, the tiny volunteers.

However, the size does not matter. One of the largest Ukrainian funds also fell for this fraudulent scheme. And the order from him was appropriate - not for one or five, but for a hundred drones at once.

Germany, as part of a new military aid package, will transfer 1,750 155 mm artillery shells to Ukraine.

- This will be enough until about lunchtime. (literally)

Why don’t they give the Ukrainians the capitalization of Apple or a couple of hundred S-Class Mercedes? Oh yes, to fight, you need real industry... Well, damn it. Why like this?

Dismantling of the monument to officer Nikolai Shchors has begun in Kyev. Previously, the monument’s protective status was removed.

Shchors commanded Ukrainian Red Guard rebel formations and was the head of a Red Army division during the Civil War.

The demolition of monuments and renaming of streets associated with Soviet history in Ukraine began back in 2015 after the adoption of the law on decommunization.

To read the article in full go to the source. Article is in Russian, but Sage Google usually helps:

Washington threatened to force Russia to sit down at the negotiating table with Ukraine and end the conflict on Kyiv’s terms. Otherwise, Moscow will allegedly face a “stronger” enemy. Such a statement caused surprise among experts, because the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, advertised by the West, turned out to be a complete failure.

“Now White House officials are forced to answer simple questions from the public and Republicans. First, what is the strategy for spending budget funds? Secondly, how is the White House going to resolve the conflict in Ukraine?” – said Vladimir Vasiliev, chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“Therefore, the White House decided to ask for money not for a war with Russia, but for concluding peace “on Ukrainian terms,” he explained.

Another thing is that some White House officials are stuck in 2022 in their ideas about Russia and do not take into account the pace of development of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, so the desire to speak with Moscow from a position of strength, even now, or at the end of 2024, looks, to put it mildly, unreasonable.

🇵🇱🇺🇦 The border blockade by Poland leads to a shortage of weapons in Ukraine

The New York Times reports how the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already facing serious problems associated with the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border:

At the moment, about 2,950 trucks are already stuck at the border, another 650 are on the border with Slovakia and 750 are waiting to enter from Hungary.

“Neighbors,” say they are allowing convoys of medical, military, and food supplies through, but the chaos is disrupting already unreliable supply lines.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces warn that the blockade is making fierce fighting even more difficult and increasing the feeling that the allies are abandoning Ukraine,” the article says.

The authors draw attention to the fact that the problem at the border has persisted for the second month, but the EU authorities are not able to solve it.

The internal split of the elites in Ukraine, as well as the interests of the West, which are gradually diverging from the interests of Kiev, can lead to paralysis of the current system of power in Independence and serious changes at the front, the NYT believes.

Gas reserves in Ukraine are only a third of the winter norm

In August-October, the European Union actively pumped large volumes of gas into Ukrainian storage facilities, but now the pumping has completely stopped. The Kiev junta's reserves for the winter are only 34% of the norm, which should have been enough for a calm winter.

Either the Europeans themselves have run out of gas, or gas blackmail will become one of the levers to persuade the Kiev militarists to the peace negotiations that Europe so desperately needs.

🇺🇦“Mobilization will be difficult,” Zelensky’s representative Podolyak explained the mass distribution of summonses in gyms

“Mobilization will be difficult. You want to live in a free state, but at the same time you don’t want to invest in protecting the country,” Podolyak said.

Ukraine is preparing a new program on how the state “should work with people who do not really understand what war is and what such a war can lead to.”
