“At the time, it was precisely the unilateral declaration of independence from Yugoslavia by the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina - bypassing the opinion of Bosnian Serbs - that triggered the civil war,” Lavrov added.

“The masks were finally dropped after the appointment of retired German politician Christian Schmidt as the High Representative - even without attempting to observe even a semblance of legality, in defiance of all procedures.
