I've just had a quick look through the information we've been provided with from the latest census figures which were released this morning. We have information on:
- Overall population size
- Number of households
- Age and sex of residents
- Household and resident characteristics (number of residents in a household, legal partnership status, household size and some information on deprivation)
- Country of birth
- Passport status
- Year of arrival in the UK
Here is a key fact people may be interested in:
“Out of the 59.6 million usual residents in England and Wales in 2021, 49.6 million (83.2%) were born in the UK and 10.0 million (16.8%) were born outside the UK. This means that about one in six people in England and Wales were born outside the UK. The size of the non-UK born population has risen since 2011, when it was 7.5 million (13.4%).”
However, I can’t see anything relating to the ethnic breakdown of the population which is the most important set of statistics. Country of birth doesn’t matter as much as an ethnically British person could be born abroad and move to England, or a Pakistani person could be born in England and not feature in these figures as they were born here.
Britain was just under 82% "White British" back in 2011. What is it today, I wonder?

The data is unsurprising but shocking nonetheless.
The number of 'usual residents' (non-citizens) has exploded from 7.5 million people to 10 million. Now making up 17% of the population of England and Wales.
Nearly 1 million people born in India now reside in the United Kingdom.
Over half a million from Romania have arrived as well(a 576% increase from 2011).
The number of people born in Pakistan increased by 141,000 from 2011 to 2021.
There are also an additional 80,000 Nigerians.
The number of persons who were born abroad but acquired British citizenship has jumped by some 3.2 million.

I’m stood here getting annoyed with this scissor lift because it keeps triggering the tilt alarm when I go up 2m.
After 20 minutes of getting the level absolutely perfect, only for it to STILL trip the alarm I get off and eye up the lift.
The whole things tilting slightly to the right when ‘level’ 🙄
Now it’s ‘off level’ I can go up 8 metres. I’ll recalibrate the level when I go back down so the next user doesn’t have to figure out this machines’ quirk.

I warned how much work it would be when the idea was formed but even I massively underestimated it.
This book began before we even knew about Catherine (though I think she may have been in there) and here it is, as she’s about to turn 1 Year old. 😄

Tommy also misinterprets the JQ, whether wilfully or through ignorance, as ‘should we hate ALL Jews?’
The JQ is actually ‘are Jewish people overrepresented in positions of influence and power?’ to which Tommy has demonstrated a clear case for “Yes”, without even going into more UK-specific groups like Labour and Conservative Friends of Israel.
