This weekend PA supporters from the North East and Yorkshire were inextricably drawn to Durham, where a ghoulish and frightening figure emerged from the gloom and fog to tell tails of tragedy and misfortune.
As we were lead through the murky streets we stopped at The Shakespeare, which is one of the oldest pubs in England, with a tavern on the site since 1109. It’s considered one of the most haunted pubs in the country, with footsteps running up and down the stairs, unseen hands grabbing clothing, odd whispers in the back rooms and many accounts of shadow people and spectres sighted over the centuries.
After surviving this encounter all retired to the warmth of a local tavern to enjoy good food and great company.
