#OTD Today, one of the greatest museums in the world - the Hermitage - celebrates its birthday!
🎨On December 7, 1764, Empress Catherine II created a painting gallery in the Winter Palace and acquired for her a collection of paintings by Dutch and Flemish masters.
This event became the starting point in the history of one of the largest and most famous museums in the world - the Hermitage.
