It is a tight contest over which U.S. regulatory agency is most captured by industry. But leading the pack is surely the FDA...
The ordeal of the COVID vaccine proved it. So long as the check cleared, the FDA was ready with committee-based approvals for which no one in particular took responsibility. On Aug. 31, 2021, as the FDA was preparing to approve boosters for a variant that had already been superseded, two top officials resigned in protest: Marion Gruber, director of the Office of Vaccines Research and Review, and her deputy, Phil Krause....
And here we are in mid-2023 and agency capture is more intense than ever. No one doubts it. But it never ends with just financial and regulatory corruption. There is another stage, which is suppressing information and censorship. One might suppose that the FDA would have nothing to do with that end of things. But that would be wrong.
The FDA has now joined the censorship crowd, in effect masquerading as the one source of truth regarding pharmaceuticals.
“Inaccurate information spreads widely and at speed,” the agency says, “making it more difficult for the public to identify verified facts and advice from trusted sources, such as the FDA. However, everyone can help to stop the spread. If you see content online that you believe to be false or misleading, you can report it to the applicable platform:”
What follows at the FDA’s site are links to all the mainstream social media platforms and a method of reporting wrongthink. Note especially the invocation of the slogan “Stop the spread.” Yes, we heard that during the whole of COVID...

And there is a feeling of panic in the air about all of this, almost as if these agencies and industries are freaking out about losing control and desperate to regain the monopoly that they believe they once had. They have every intention of ramping up the spying, putting more pressure on social media, and otherwise deploying every trick in the book for clamping down on those who would dare to disagree.

Health care providers rely on product labeling for accurate, unbiased and up-to-date information on medical products. But current Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved labels for the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are obsolete, misleading and out of touch with regulators elsewhere. Whatever one thought of the initial shots, people are now getting boosted indefinitely with little reliable information about scientific developments.
Take the ongoing uncertainty over whether vaccines reduce viral transmission. We asked the FDA to clarify in labeling that there isn’t substantial evidence that mRNA vaccines reduce viral transmission. This was an easy ask — the FDA has repeatedly stated that effectiveness against transmission remains unproven. The agency said so in December 2020, when vaccines were first authorized, and again in August 2021, when it fully approved Pfizer’s vaccine. The agency still states on its website today: “While it is hoped this will be the case, the scientific community does not yet know if Comirnaty will reduce such transmission.”
Viral transmission is just one of multiple vaccine-related issues for which the FDA has not updated product labeling.
In January, a group of us — current and former FDA advisers and academics from around the country — tried to fix this problem by asking the FDA to make critical changes to official product labels. But four months later, in a 33-page response letter, the agency denied almost every single request.
In doing so, the FDA failed to follow the lead of regulators elsewhere, including in Europe and Japan...

Facebook was asked by the scientific “establishment” to remove various posts related to Covid-19 which later proved to be “debatable or true,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during a podcast interview this week.
Speaking to the Russian-American interviewer Lex Fridman in a podcast released on Thursday, Zuckerberg said that policing Facebook’s attempts to remove mistruths is “really tricky.”
“Just take some of the stuff around Covid earlier on in the pandemic,” Zuckerberg explained, “Where there were real health implications but there hadn’t been time to fully vet a bunch of the scientific assumptions.”
He continued: “Unfortunately, I think a lot of the establishment on that kind-of waffled on a bunch of facts.”
Zuckerberg said in August 2021, in an interview with CBS during the height of the pandemic, that Facebook takes down content the platform views as “harmful,” as it violates the company’s policies. “In one email, a CDC official tells a Twitter employee that, quote, ‘CDC is working on a project with Census to leverage their infrastructure to identify and monitor social media for vaccine misinformation,’ unquote. And that they would, quote, ‘like the opportunity to work with Twitter’s trust team on a regular basis to discuss what they are seeing,’ end quote,” revealed Rep. James Comer
“But with respect to censorship,” he continued, “censoring dissenting opinions is unacceptable. And that’s something else that this Select Committee needs to investigate. We don’t need to see that ever happen again.”
