Erasmus (1466-1536) showed Tertullian (150-240AD) stated repentance is a change of mind, in Erasmus's Annotationes section of his 1527 Novum Testamentum (New Testament Annotations) edition.

Latin:
Graecae vocis elegantia annotavit Tertullianus lib[ro] adversus Marcione 2 [secundo]:
Nam & in Graeco, inquit, sono poenitentia nomen non ex delicti confessione, sed ex animi demutatione compositum est.

Tertullian translated into English:
Now in Greek the word for repentance is formed, not from the confession of a sin, but from a change of mind, which in God we have shown to be regulated by the occurrence of varying circumstances.

Changing your mind from unbelief to belief for salvation is NOT the same thing as the unbiblical concept of the "repent of your sins [ROYS]/turn from your sins for salvation" heresy. Repentance for salvation is a change of mind from unbelief to belief and is not the same as the works based "repent of sins/turn to be saved" heresy (which is a false excuse that ROYS people will make up due to heavy indoctrination by ROYS and Calvinism's teachings or ignorance, when those ROYS people faced with the Scriptures and facts that repent is a change of mind).

We, the Repentance Examined channel, are against the heresy of adding "of sins/of your sins" into repentance & salvation; many people and false teachers are pushing "repent of your sins", yet the "repent-of-sins/of-your-sins/turn from your-sins"-for-salvation idea is a  very subtile, yet damnable works salvationism heresy that pushes a man's self-effort of attempting to defeat/turn his actions from sin in order to be saved. Anyone who adds "of sin" to repentance on salvation is not saved because they are trusting their works.
Turn from sins is works
Also, we will keep explaining biblical repentance from the real Bible, the King James Bible, in English. Modern versions push repent of sins heresy and works salvationism heresies in order to get people to fall for trusting their works and damning people to Hell and the Lake of Fire.

One last claim that the "repent 'oF mUh SiNs' for salvation" crowd will make is they will claim that unbelief is sin so therefore repent supposedly means turn from/repent of sins. HOWEVER/BUT the Scriptures prove their claim to be wrong & unbiblical since....

Unbelief is not a sin according to God's law/the 10 Commandments, so adding "of sins" to "repent" and the "turn from unbelief to belief = repent of sins" idea is unbiblical

1 John 3:4 KJB
[4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Exodus 24:12 KJB
[12] And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Exodus 20:1-5, 7-8, 12-17 KJB
[1] And God spake all these words, saying, [2] I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: [5] thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[7] Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. [8] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[12] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. [13] Thou shalt not kill. [14] Thou shalt not commit adultery. [15] Thou shalt not steal. [16] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. [17] Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Romans 13:8-10 KJB
[8] Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. [9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 13:8-10, 1 John 3:4 and Exodus 20 and Exodus 24:12 never call "unbelief" as a transgression of God's law or as a sin. Thus, the unbiblical repent-of-sinists' claim of "unbelief=sin/transgression of God's law" is incorrect. Unbelief is not called a sin in the Bible.

God wants all men [everyone] to freely believe on the Lord Jesus Christ/to be saved, yet does not force anyone to believe and does not put belief into them:

1 Timothy 2:3-4 KJB
[3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4] who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 4:10 KJB
[10] For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Revelation 22:17 KJB
[17] And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

John 16:9-11 does not say "unbelief is a sin". See that John 16:7-11 says the Holy Ghost reproves the world of their sin, because they believe not on Jesus. If they believed on the risen Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, the Holy Ghost would not need to reprove the world of their sin

John 16:7-11 KJB
[7] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8] And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] of sin, because they believe not on me;
[10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

In verse 10, Jesus says and explains the Holy Ghost reproves the world of righteousness because Jesus will (context is at Jesus speaking 2000 years ago at the time he is talking ) go to the Father. Today, we know Jesus (God the Son) did ascend into heaven and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father (Mark 16:19, Acts 1:2, Romans 8:34, Proverbs 30:4 KJB).

So John 16:7-11 does not support the "unbelief = sin" idea. Thus, repent does not involve the works/efforts of constantly, 24/7 turning from sin in order to be saved. Repent is not turn from sin, as God repented
