Um policial sérvio ficou ferido após ser atacado por um homem armado com duas facas nas proximidades da Embaixada de Israel em Belgrado, capital da Sérvia, na madrugada desta quarta-feira (28). O agressor foi morto pelo agente, que reagiu em legítima defesa.

Segundo o ministro do Interior da Sérvia, Ivica Dacic, o agressor seria um menor de idade, ainda não identificado, que gritou “Allahu Akbar” (“Deus é grande”, em árabe) durante o ataque. As autoridades sérvias afirmaram que o suspeito era simpatizante do grupo terrorista Estado Islâmico e mantinha uma bandeira da organização em seu perfil no Instagram.

O policial sofreu ferimentos leves. Nenhum funcionário da embaixada israelense ficou ferido, já que a representação diplomática estava fechada no momento do ataque.

O governo sérvio classificou o episódio como um ataque terrorista e elevou o nível de alerta do país ao máximo, determinando o reforço da segurança em locais estratégicos.

Este é o segundo ataque contra a segurança da Embaixada de Israel em Belgrado em pouco mais de dois anos. Em junho de 2024, um agressor armado com uma besta feriu um policial sérvio que protegia a representação diplomática. O atacante também foi morto após a reação das forças de segurança.
O novo episódio reforça a preocupação com ameaças terroristas contra representações diplomáticas israelenses e a necessidade de proteger essas instalações e seus funcionários.

🚨The BBC has paid more than £400,000 to an Oscar-winning producer who says she faced antisemitism from colleagues after Hamas’s massacre on October 7, 2023.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Lucie Kon said that when she messaged a colleague calling Hamas evil, the colleague allegedly replied: “Evil Hamas, evil Zionists.” Colleagues also allegedly told her that if she called Hamas terrorists, she would have to call Israel a terrorist state too. She says she was later removed from overseeing a film she’d proposed about October 7, 2023, allegedly “because you’re Jewish.” In April, just 19 days after her Oscar win, she lost her job through redundancy.

The BBC agreed to the payout but has not admitted liability or apologized.

Na última semana, o papa Leão XIV recebeu no Vaticano uma delegação do American Jewish Committee, liderada pelo CEO Ted Deutch. No encontro, declarou que a Igreja não tolera o antissemitismo e o combate em razão do próprio Evangelho, e reafirmou o legado da declaração Nostra Aetate, que completa 61 anos hoje.

Promulgada em 28 de outubro de 1965, durante o Concílio Vaticano II, a Nostra Aetate marcou uma virada histórica. Durante séculos, os judeus foram acusados de serem coletivamente culpados pela morte de Jesus, uma ideia usada para justificar perseguições, expulsões e massacres. O documento rompeu com isso: afirma que a morte de Jesus não pode ser atribuída a todos os judeus daquela época nem aos judeus de hoje, e que os judeus não devem ser apresentados como rejeitados ou amaldiçoados por Deus.

A declaração também lembra que Jesus, sua mãe e os apóstolos eram judeus, reconhece o patrimônio espiritual comum entre judeus e cristãos e condena o ódio, as perseguições e as manifestações de antissemitismo, em qualquer época e venham de quem vierem.

Num momento de crescimento do antissemitismo em todo o mundo, gestos como esse são importantes. O combate ao ódio contra os judeus exige o compromisso de líderes de todas as fés.

Among the more than 1,000 victims of the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre in southern Israel was 43-year-old Srithat Kawao, a husband and Thai agricultural worker who cultivated cassava and avocados on Kibbutz Nir Oz. He was one of 11 Thai workers brutally murdered on the kibbutz, while five others were kidnapped.

This is only one of countless heart-shattering stories from Hamas’ massacre.
