Violence in the West Bank/Judea & Samaria has once again made headlines, led by reports of unacceptable attacks by Israeli extremists against a Washington Post journalist and a French official.

Israeli authorities have launched investigations of both incidents and made 10 arrests so far. We support all efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Because misinformation and conflicting narratives spread rapidly in cases like this, it is important to understand the broader context.

- In 2025, the IDF reported 867 attacks by Israeli extremists, 128 of which were more severe (shootings, arson, and other violent crimes). They also report that this violence against both Palestinians and Israeli security forces has grown worse in recent years.

- Israeli authorities estimate that hundreds of Israeli extremists engage in violence, with a smaller group carrying out more severe attacks. While these extremists are a tiny minority out of more than 500,000 Israeli settlers who live in the region, they are causing immense harm.

- The West Bank/Judea & Samaria is a conflict zone where many actors spread misinformation. Alongside real harm done by Israeli extremists, there are misleading claims that distort the issues.

- The UN claims there are far more cases of "settler violence" than the data reported by the IDF. However, researchers found that UN numbers are vastly inflated (i.e. by counting traffic accidents and Jews walking on the Temple Mount as violent attacks).

- In 2025, the Shin Bet (Israel's version of the FBI) reported thousands of attacks by Palestinian extremists in the region. 4,675 stone throwing, Molotov cocktail, pipe bomb, and arson/tire burning attacks against Israeli targets were recorded - most of them in the West Bank/Judea & Samaria. Israeli authorities reportedly prevented 1,374 major attacks, including shootings, IEDs, stabbings, car rammings, suicide bombings, and kidnappings. Terrorists also managed to carry out 54 major attacks against Israelis. News reports and social media posts often ignore this violence completely.

- Brief clips often spread on social media with little to no context. As we write, some videos are being used to blame Israeli extremists for violence near the village of Abu Falah, while others are being used to blame Palestinian extremists for starting the clash. In many cases, the full story does not become clear until later on.

- Terrorist threats and deep distrust between Israelis and Palestinians reportedly make it difficult to conduct successful criminal investigations in the region.

There is widespread misinformation about "settler violence" which does nothing to help Israelis or Palestinians. At the same time, there is a very real threat posed by Israeli extremists.

Senior Israeli officials, opposition leaders, and key figures in the settlement movement have said Israel must change the reality on the ground by enforcing law and order. The Shin Bet (Israel's version of the FBI) has reportedly been tasked with stopping the attacks.

We hope they succeed for the sake of Israelis and Palestinians alike.

A powerful tribute: Netflix’s hit series The Diplomat honors the memory of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Aner Shapira, two victims of Hamas terrorism.

Aner Shapira (22, left), a brave off-duty IDF soldier who was at the Nova Festival, showed extraordinary bravery on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas massacre in southern Israel.

As the terrorists launched the attack, Aner, Hersh, and others sought safety in a roadside shelter, known as the “shelter of death.” When the terrorists arrived, he took command of the shelter, guarding the entrance. Aner heroically threw back grenades hurled inside by the terrorists, saving lives. Hersh (23), an American-Israeli, was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and taken into Gaza from the roadside shelter. Moments before being kidnapped, he was severely injured when his arm was blown off from the elbow down by grenades the terrorists had thrown into the shelter.

On August 31, 2024, the IDF located Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and additional hostages Eden Yerushalmi (24), Almog Sarusi (27), Ori Danino (25), Carmel Gat (40), and Alexander Lobanov (33), who had been brutally murdered in captivity in a Hamas terror tunnel.

May their memories forever be a blessing.

A report by the educational monitoring organization IMPACT-se, found that Syria’s school textbooks now teach children to see Jews as enemies.

Researchers reviewed 130 textbooks for grades 1 to 12 that were used in the 2025-26 school year and kept for next year. They found that a Grade 6 lesson teaches that “treason and backstabbing are among the traits of the Jews.” Syria’s history of Jewish communities is erased, and maps label Israel as “Palestine.”

This is how a generation learns to hate. The stakes go well beyond Syria’s classrooms.

A historic throwback to January 25, 1949, when Israel’s first president, Chaim Weizmann, and his wife, Vera Weizmann, cast their votes in Israel’s first national elections!

Just eight months earlier, on May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was reborn, restoring Jewish sovereignty in the Jewish people’s ancestral homeland after nearly 2,000 years.

This Thursday marks 43 years since Hezbollah - backed by the Iranian regime - murdered 241 American service members in Beirut.

The same Iranian regime is still here.

Still funding proxies. Still targeting Americans and Israelis.

The threat never changed.

A former UN official just said what the world needed to hear.

Alice Jill Edwards served as the UN's Independent Expert on torture from 2022 to 2026. She spent her career defending Palestinian refugees, led proceedings before Europe's highest court to protect them.

And yet, in a bombshell opinion piece in Britain's Daily Telegraph, she accuses two of her most prominent UN colleagues - Francesca Albanese, the UN rapporteur on Palestinian territories, and Reem Alsalem, the UN rapporteur on violence against women - of deliberately ignoring Hamas's sexual violence on October 7, 2023, calling their conduct one-sided, politically motivated, and a betrayal of the victims.

"They never formally documented these horrors, despite the growing body of evidence which to most of us is indisputable, but which they dispute."

She also takes direct aim at UN Secretary-General António Guterres, saying he has "failed to carry out the original mandate of the UN" and adopted a "fatalistic posture" while wars rage around the world.

When Edwards published her own report on October 7, only one other UN special rapporteur agreed to sign it. Others refused. Some tried to have material removed entirely. This is not coming from Israel. This is coming from inside the UN itself.
