TRIBAL LAND AND COMMUNITY
There isn't anything exactly like the feeling of a ship at sail, our people together unified rowing in unison! I find myself at the helm, eager, leaning out, and looking forward to our land!
As a people, we are a tribal Nation due to our umbilical tie to one another; we need only us, our traditions and rituals, and our Mighty Gods!
As we set forth to seize land we look inward to ourselves, never mandatory for those who have nothing, yet will be incorporating an option for monthly donations.
We have legally taken steps to not only become official but to secure our vision of Raven Folks' future. We aim to share this load and our next big push will most certainly be a hard push towards our Nations Tribal soil and capital!
We look to us, asking our folk to sign up and keep the momentum strong as we conquer!
For those already enrolled, your folk thanks you!
The future is ours!
At the end of the month, there will be investor meetings. Any RFU citizens interested in these calls please contact your local Jarl or Gothar for information.
Hail Raven Folk United!

RESIST THE MODERN AGE
"Pagan revivalism", isn't about living in the past! It's not about escapism or fantasy! It's about reconnecting and rediscovery!
Pagan revivalism is in its truest forum built on the idea of a people embracing who they are at a soul and tribal level while simultaneously bringing this into the modern age.
The research and reconstruction of the laws, traditions and rituals of our northern european Ancestors have allowed us a unique opportunity in this age of degeneracy, an opportunity to become! To bend this age to the will of our people and to break free from the fetters of evil men and the society they have poisoned.
Hear us Galdar!! Singing to the High One!
Witness these societal shackles break from around our necks and wrist, see the fear in the eyes of chaos as the sons of Germania are awakening! And we've come to slay the beast!
Physically!, socially!, and spiritually! Raven folks mannerbund train and rush forward. We cheer and smile as we are in a time like no other with such glory to be had, we celebrate this gift and cultivate a culture in witch men will willingly sacrifice themselves once again upon the alter of existence and do so egarly and with joy in their hearts so that our descendants can once again embrace the sunrise without fear and free from alien influence!

Because of support from the Heathen community, Aldrrúnar just took the number one spot in the Religious Studies category new releases. This isn’t some
niche category, it is THE category on religion and theology. And in that category we beat out a new version of the Bible!!!!
This is how we win my brothers and sisters. This is how we turn the tide. Push this everywhere. Show the Abrahamics that we have returned! We are taking back our birthright!

What do the birds say?
In many pagan cultures there was a lesser known type of divination or way to recieve messages from the Gods. This was known as bird augury or ornithomancy. From Hellenic to Germanic, and even Gaulish societies, there was a long and storied tradition of interpreting the behavior and calls of birds to know the will and wants of the divine. The species of bird, their behavior when observed, and the calls they made could all hold meanings. As an example; ravens flying overhead could symbolize a positive sign of favour for one who stands on a battlefield, and songbirds building nests was positive for one sitting in their home. Many have heard the tales of the storks bringing babies and they too carried messages to our folk, often of fertility and childbirth. Another is the cuckoo bird, who's first hearing in spring, it is said, could tell you how many years you have to live, or how long a maiden will remain unmarried, but should he sound off more than 10 times, he was said to be bewitched and his calls to be ignored. The woodpecker, especially of the green variety, was known to the Nordic folk to be a forteller of rain, and to hear his call would be a blessing to the farmer in need of water for his crops. The mighty hawk may tell of coming action and opportunity, the favor of Freyja who chooses the battle slain, while the magpie was known as a trickster and deciever and could warn the folk of such a man in their midst. The number of birds also held meaning to the ancestors. One may be a personal message, while two could be allies or enemies, and a flock brought news for the whole community. Their behavior (especially should it be out of the ordinary) was important to take note of, for this made the indications much stronger. One would do well to take note of a raven which lands close to them and calls, for they bring a message from Lord Woden and often not one of good tidings, but a warning of impending danger. To learn to interpret these signs one must first be open to the messages, learn the associations of each bird, learn of their behaviors, and seek often to observe and understand the Gods' messengers as best as they can. Those things which the ancestors felt important are things we too should find important, and we should never lose track of them. When next you see the birds, perhaps you can keep an eye out for what news they bring and ask, "What do the birds say?"

Milk: The Sacred Source of Life and Renewal
Milk is presented as a sacred, life-giving substance rooted in the earliest moments of creation. Flowing from Auðhumla, it carries the primal force of fertility, aurr, the generative essence from which life, land, and lineage emerge. This substance is not just nourishment, but a cosmic medium through which the first beings were formed and sustained, linking the physical world to its divine origins.
Through myth, this life-force continues to shape existence: it gives rise to the first Gods, nourishes giants, and becomes the fertile ground from which the world itself is made. It is tied to cycles of birth, regeneration, and transformation, appearing again and again as a force that creates, restores, and sustains life across realms.
Ritually, milk becomes a continuation of this primordial act. As the Nornir pour the sacred substance upon the World Tree to preserve and renew it, so too do practitioners mirror this through offerings. Milk (sometimes mixed with mead) serves as a vessel of that original creative power, used in libations to honor the divine and sustain the sacred order. In this way, milk is not merely a physical offering, but a symbol and conduit of fertility, continuity, and the deep connection between the Gods, the land, and the people.
Let this ancient practice live through us. In offering milk, we return to the source, to the same life-giving force that nourished the first beings and shaped the world itself. Pour it with purpose, with reverence, and with the understanding that you are participating in a current far older than memory. In doing so, you strengthen the bond between yourself, the Gods, and the living order they sustain.

More than a simple promise.
In the culture of the ancestors, there was a tradition and custom that held society together, a custom which served as the glue to bind the folk together that was one of their most sacred and well-kept traditions, and that was the sacred oath. To swear an oath is to make a binding promise, one sworn with witnesses who hold the swearer to their word and one which defined the man by his word, tying his actions to those words with consequences should he break it. In Raven Folk, we are reviving this tradition and using what this ancient social technology creates to bind our folk nation together. We swear upon an oath ring in the company of our family and kinsman, who bind us to that word, and we call upon our Gods and ancestors to witness us as well, that the oath may be kept even when no kinsman is there to see, as the Gods and ancestors are always there.
Not long ago, I made one of these oaths. I swore upon the ring that now sits around my neck that I would protect my folk nation, that I would build kingdoms of my people, that I would support all those who we call members of the tribe. I called out to my Gods, my ancestors, and my kinsman to witness the oath and to hold me to it, and when I swore I meant every word. I had my wife, who holds my son and the keys to my home and bloodline. I had my closest kinsman, who are near not only to me physically but are closely related to me by blood and who are closest to me in the tribe as some of my dearest friends. I had my Gods and my ancestors, and specifically I had called to Freyr - Ingui, who I have kept in a special place upon my altar and in my practice and who has never withheld his favour from me and always blesses my land and family. All of these who witnessed my oath mean more to me than any words ever could, and it is through them that I am bound to fulfill that promise, and should I break it, their shame would be more than enough for me to be duely punished and force me to seek recompense to make right on that oath.
When I swore the oath, the Gods and ancestors made it known that it was accepted in their own way, and any doubts I may have had that they would also hold me to it were clearly cast away before their showing. I pledge now in writing to all who read this that I will keep this oath, and be you also a member of our tribe, you can rest assured that you have my support based upon it, and if you are not of our tribe and if you seek to do us harm, you also have my assurance that I will do anything in my power to keep my oath and to destroy any wickedness you attempt to bring us.
This is the glue that bound our ancestors and that now binds us together, that makes us as strong as they were. They are the ancestors who shook the world with their might, and it is through the oath system that they gained that might. So now we have the opportunity to share in it, and I for one am profoundly grateful not just for my oath but for the opportunities I'll have to keep it, to strengthen our tribe, to make kingdoms of our folk. It will all be done because of a promise I made.
Protect the folk at all cost!

The Thread That Holds Us Together
There is something that happens when Folk show up consistently not just to the big events, not just when it is convenient, but to the calls, the circles, the studies, the lore nights. Something shifts. You can feel it. The connections deepen, the roots grow stronger, and what was once a group of individuals begins to move like a people.
That is what I want to talk about today.
Why Participation Matters
When I look at what makes Raven Folk United what it is, it is not any single event or any single person. It is the consistency of showing up. Our women's calls, men's calls, Vril calls, recovery calls, lore studies, classes, and our monthly all-members call exist for a reason. Each one is a thread. And threads, woven together, become something that cannot be easily broken.
When you join a women's circle or a men's call, you are not just attending a meeting. You are stepping into a space where your growth is held by people who share your blood memory, your values, your Gods. When you sit in a lore study, you are not just learning history. You are remembering who you are. When you show up to a Vril call or a recovery call, you are saying to yourself and to your Folk that this path is worth the work.
That matters more than most people realize when they first begin.
Connection does not happen all at once. It builds. Call by call, study by study, gathering by gathering. The Folk you speak with regularly become the Folk you trust. The trust becomes frith.
That is not a small thing. That is everything.
Get to the Events
I will be direct with you. The calls and the studies build the foundation, but the events are where you feel it in your bones. There is something about standing in the same space with your Folk, breaking bread together, watching your children run together, competing and laughing, and sitting around a fire at the end of the day, that no screen can replicate.
If you have been on the edges, attending calls here and there but not making it to gatherings, I am asking you to change that this year. Not because I am telling you to. But because I know what waits for you on the other side of that decision.
Midsummer is Coming
This June, Raven Folk United is gathering in Southern California for Midsummer. Every year we do this, and every year something remarkable happens. The numbers grow, yes, but that is not what moves me. What moves me is watching the spirit of our Folk deepen. The frith that fills the space. The children who are watching everything, taking it all in, learning without being taught that this is who they are and where they belong.
Our Haminja strengthens at these gatherings. I have watched it happen year after year. Folk who came as strangers leave as family. Children who have never met find each other and play as though they have always known one another. Warriors challenge each other with honor. Women circle together and hold space that is old and real and necessary.
Axe throwing, combat challenges, games, women's circles, children's activities, and feasting together all weekend. Camping under the summer sky with your people around you.
This is what we build toward all year. This is why we show up to the calls, why we do the work, why we study and circle and grow together. So that when we stand in that field in June, we are not strangers gathering. We are Folk coming home.
Food is provided. Camping on site. All ages welcome. Registration is open now.
Come. Bring your family. Let your children see what their people look like when they are alive and together and free.

The Draugr
Part I:
In the past, when our folk looked for guidance from the gods and ancestors, they searched for signs in the world around them, and then turned within themselves for integration and understanding. One method for this kind of spiritual attunement was practicing útiseta, to “sit out” overnight in a peaceful grove or on a hallowed howe. In those quiet moments, sacred truths could make themselves known to an attentive mind. Perhaps in the the stirring of the wind, or an animal visitor, or a dreamlike vision.
However, to conjure the dead through necromancy was taboo, and often had negative supernatural consequences. One example is the draugr from Proto-Germanic *draugaz, “delusion” and *dreuganą, “to mislead, deceive.” This is a spirit which takes the possession of a reanimated corpse. Like a zombie, the face may be familiar, and it may even retain memories of the body it inhabits, but the soul is gone, replaced by something rotten and hollow.
One aspect of the living soul is óðr. This was one of the first gifts given to mankind by Óðinn and his brothers. Óðinn’s very name means “The Master of Óðr.” This word is used frequently to refer to matters of the mind and the soul, but it carries additional meanings of restlessness, frenzy, inspiration, and even possession.
Óðr is the quality which defines poets, artists, craftsmen, warriors, and the all the most lively and passionate men persons among us. It fuels the ecstatic state where a man simultaneously loses his individual personhood and becomes more complete in his sense of purpose.
Carl Jung said, "Art is a kind of innate drive that seizes a human being and makes him its instrument."
What am I really getting at, here?
Óðinn’s relentless quest for knowledge is often cited as justification for using AI, and, to be fair, the use AI as a tool for research is quite pragmatic, and sometimes it can be entertaining, but in the same concept of communing with the dead, I think there is a proper and improper way to use this technology.
What I find most offensive is the use of AI to write and to “create” on one’s behalf—especially for religious purposes. Art and poetry is fundamentally human, even when it is flawed. It is an opportunity for the divine and mundane to inhabit the same space as we search for exaltation. To outsource one’s creativity to a machine is to rebuke the very gift of óðr. This is where I see the metaphor of the draugr.

The Draugr
Part II:
Like the draugr, AI can appear as human. It speaks, appears to use reason, and can even seem quite creatively talented. But it isn’t human. It is neither living, nor dead. It cannot imagine anything new—only string together things it has been trained to repeat. The previous diversity of art and ideas is gradually being reduced to an unremarkable mean which causes all images, writing, and music to appear the same.
I now see some people rushing into reliance upon LLMs to try explaining the depth of the divine connection to our gods, ancestors, and the world around us, as though a machine has any idea of what it means to have the gifts of life. When they go so far as to claim ownership of the “art” generated for them, it sows seeds of distrust about the authenticity of all interactions. Now the people simply repeat what the draugr repeated first, severing themselves from the ecstatic connection which once motivated them to take chances at being vulnerable with self-expression.
We are saturated in an environment where opportunities for sacred connection have become depersonalized and commodified in the name of “content.” This sad affair is only going to increase, so long as we use mass media to communicate.
But in a time where it’s already extremely difficult to form lasting and meaningful relationships with other people, do we really want all of the books, illustrations, and music about our ancestral faith to be made by soulless entities which masquerade as human? How could we even claim a right to these things being our culture if it no longer comes from our own folk—themselves being the dynamic conduit for our ancestors and our gods?
We must fight this while we are still in the early days of this technology. If we want our children to stand above this mediocrity, we must set an example for them to follow. This example must be one of attentiveness, resourcefulness, and self-authorship. As fewer and fewer people think for themselves, our descendants will remember how to truly be children of Midgard, and will not be so easily swayed by placating phrases nor fall victim to the digital draugar which prey upon our folksoul.
So practice your writing skills. Practice drawing. Make your own music. Even if you doubt your own abilities, the crafts from your own hands are of infinitely greater value than ones which require no inspiration or effort. A gift demands a gift, so let your own creativity be what repays the gods!
