βI think this will bring in about four times the revenue over 20 years than it did in the last period. This is a missed opportunity to reduce the rate a little bit and to be fiscally responsible.β

βLess than one percent of Maricopa County residents use public transit. This bill would have almost 40% of this new tax going to pay for something used by less than 1% of Maricopa County residents. Liberty-minded conservatives like myself, we frequently get the criticism, βIf we did away with this tax, who would build the roads?β How about somebody builds them without spending a dollar funding pet projects that nobody uses, for every dollar that they spend to build roads.β

On Sunday, the national RLC board unanimously passed this resolution, urging RLC members and chapters to support Defend the Guard legislation at the state level. The RLCAZ supported this bill last session and it passed out of the Arizona Senate before getting stuck in the House. The bill was included in our scorecard and the House Military Affairs Committee Chair lost points for holding this bill. We will continue to support Defend the Guard again next session. Per Article I, Section 8, it is Congressβ duty to deliberate and pass a declaration of war before troops are deployed into combat. #DefendTheGuard
