Senate passes Rep. Ben Toma’s bill HB2507, which declares churches and religious services as essential, preventing the state from shutting them down during a declared emergency.

Senate passes HB2498 which prohibits government entities from requiring Arizona residents to take the COVID vaccine. Huge win for personal liberty and medical freedom. The bill now heads to the Governor.

Disappointing vote on HB2101. Senators in green voted for crony energy policy that empowers monopolies and reduces competition. We need free market policies (or as free as possible) to enable competition and consumer choice.

Thank you Senators Nancy Barto, Paul Boyer and Warren Petersen for voting No.
Great to see Representative Steve Kaiser’s bill HB2119 pass out of the Senate 29-0. Current law requires nonviolent first-time offenders to wait two years after completing their sentence before their 2nd Amendment right can be restored. HB2119 would allow automatic restoration of the 2nd Amendment right for nonviolent first-time offenders, without a two year wait, after the sentence is served and any restitution is paid in full.

Rep. Lupe Diaz on HB2507: "As we look at being able to exercise our religious liberties, which is a constitutional right, it is amazing that we can be denied gathering, or possibly denied gathering at churches, and yet have stadiums, malls and box stores open. It is an essential service, especially when people are facing so many critical things in their lives. They need to get their head around some of the crises they are facing, and where they get that kind of support is at church and religious services."

HB2507 prevents the state from shutting down churches or religious services during a declared emergency. The bill passed both chambers and awaits a signature from Governor Ducey.
“We have a $5.3 billion surplus. That doesn’t mean that we’re doing a great job. That means that we’re overtaxing the people that we represent.

Government spending is wildly out of control. I would love to have an actual skinny budget. Go in an reduce and limit the size and scope of government, because that’s what’s truly in the best interest of the people we represent."

Rep. @JakeHoffman’s comments on the budget are spot on.

Great news! Governor Ducey has signed HB2498! This will prevent government agencies from mandating the COVID vaccine. Medical decisions should be made by the individual, not by tyrannical government bureaucrats/politicians. Big win for medical freedom!
HB2507 has been signed by Governor Ducey! This will prevent churches/religious services from being shut down during emergency declarations. Our religious liberty is a constitutional right protected by the 1st Amendment.

HB2414 is Rep. Jacqueline Parker’s bill to repeal a line in statute that currently requires firearms to be unloaded before being locked up in a vehicle parked on public school grounds. HB2414 would allow guns to remain loaded while secured in a parked car on school grounds. It passed the House 31-27, and passed the Senate Judiciary Committee, but has not been brought to the Senate floor. Last session this bill got stuck at this same point and never advanced to the Senate floor. Contact Senate President Karen Fann ([email protected]) and tell her to bring HB2414 to the floor for a vote. Republican Senators should not hide from a simple pro-2nd Amendment bill.
The HB2371 striker prohibits government agencies from forcing the COVID vaccine on children without parental consent. All Senate Democrats voted No. Democrats think government bureaucrats should be able to force medical decisions onto children. That's tyranny. Only the parents should be making those decisions. #VoteRepublican

Thank you to Sen. Rick Gray for switching to No and making a motion to bring it back for reconsideration.
HB2471 would automatically terminate emergency declarations after 14 days, unless the Governor calls the legislature into special session to address the emergency. This important bill would allow the legislature to put a check on the Governor’s emergency powers.

HB2471 passed the House 31-28, and passed the Senate Government Committee, but is currently being held in the Senate Rules Committee. Contact Senate President Karen Fann ([email protected]) and tell her to put HB2471 on the Rules agenda, and then bring it to the Senate floor for a vote.
In January, Governor Ducey challenged the legislature:

“Let's think big and find more ways to get kids in the schools of their parents' choice. Send me the bills and I'll sign them."

Sadly, the legislature is yet to pass a school choice bill this session. The only significant school choice bill that even moved was SB1657. This bill expands ESA eligibility to low income students, students with parents who are veterans & students in a school district that is not offering in person schooling or that is imposing unlawful mandates.

SB1657 passed the Senate 16-12, & passed House Ways & Means, but is currently being held in House Rules.

Contact House Rules Chair Travis Grantham ([email protected]) and respectfully ask him to put SB1657 on the Rules Agenda. Then contact Speaker Bowers ([email protected]) and ask him to bring SB1657 to the floor for a vote. Last session, Speaker Bowers prevented a very similar bill from advancing to the floor.

Republicans should boldly support school choice by passing SB1657

Sen. Rand Paul is one of the few people in the Senate who has been consistent on this issue throughout the years. We cannot afford any new spending. We must reduce spending and restore fiscal sanity. #StandWithRand #CutSpendingNow
