The argument by law enforcement that Flock cameras help solve crimes could be used to argue in favor of any form of mass electronic surveillance. A system whereby the movements and actions of every man, woman and child in the United States is tracked electronically at all times would virtually eliminate all crime in this country.

Nobody is seriously advocating for an AI system to watch every human being, 24 hours a day, in their public and private livesโ€”even though it would end or at least catch all crimeโ€”because as a society, stopping or catching crime is not our only priority. It's the only priority of law enforcement, but we don't live in a "cop"-ocracy. If every citizen lived in cells like on Alcatraz instead of private homes, that would also help prevent crime!

"Oh, but even though we're going to collect all the data, we're going to put in safeguards so it can't be used by bad actors!"

Well that same justification could be used to justify the AI skynet watching all people at all times. "We're just going to over here quietly collecting all the dataโ€”but we promise government officers won't be able to use it without a warrant!"

There's a huge difference between having get a warrant to bug a phone, or set up electronic surveillance of a suspected criminal, vs bugging everyone's phone and surveilling everyone and then saying cops will need a warrant to access the data being collected on everyone.

That's obviously mass surveillance and that's exactly what these Flock cameras are.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ทโšก๏ธ โ€” A bipartisan group of U.S. senators has reached a deal on legislation that would allow President Trump to impose tougher sanctions on major buyers of Russian energy and Iran, Bloomberg reports.

The bill, which Trump supports and was championed by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, is scheduled for a procedural Senate vote on Tuesday.

It would authorize the president to impose tariffs on the five largest buyers of Russian oil and natural gas, as well as the top five countries helping Russia evade energy sanctions, while also expanding penalties targeting Iran.

Hey everyone,
Our friend Robbie is about to be released after serving time on charges stemming from fights with Antifa back in 2016. Weโ€™re still short of the money needed for first and last monthโ€™s rent on an apartment so he has a place to land when he gets out.
A lot has changed since the early days of RAM. These days people routinely raise six figures for far less. Robbie was out there taking real risks and putting himself on the line years before it became popular, defending the right of people on the Right to speak and associate in public in California. That cost him years of his life.
If youโ€™re able, please donate. Even more importantly, share this with anyone who might be willing to help.
Thank you. https://www.givesendgo.com/GK7CM

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ทโšก๏ธ โ€” The U.S. Senate voted 86-12 to advance the bipartisan bill championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham that would impose tougher sanctions on Russia and Iran.

โžก๏ธ The procedural vote came hours after senators honored Graham's memory and immediately following a closed-door meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, who watched the vote from the Senate chamber.

โžก๏ธ The bill would authorize 100% secondary tariffs on countries that continue purchasing Russian oil and natural gas, target Russia's "shadow fleet" of oil tankers used to evade sanctions, and renew U.S. sanctions on Iran that are due to expire at the end of the year.
