BREAKING — President Trump Says Appeals Court Ruling Threatens White House Security Project, Supreme Court Appeal Coming
President Trump says two appellate judges have ruled against allowing construction of what he describes as a critical White House military and national security complex to continue. He highlighted a dissent from Judge Neomi Rao, who argued the lower court lacked jurisdiction and said security concerns outweighed aesthetic objections to the construction.
President Trump says the ruling has been stayed temporarily and that his administration will immediately appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. According to his statement, the broader project includes bomb shelters, medical facilities, classified military infrastructure, reinforced construction, drone protection, blast resistant glass, and other security upgrades intended to protect current and future presidents, their families, staff, visiting dignitaries, and the White House complex.
He also said the planned ballroom is part of the integrated project, is ahead of schedule and under budget, and will be funded privately rather than by taxpayers.
