In the face of apparent moderation on mass deportation policy, Stephen Miller has actually been making rounds with lawmakers and officials to reinforce immigration enforcement efforts.
This is coming to fruition recently in Tennessee, focusing on shoving illegals out of the system and turning the state into a tool of identification & removal.

'Stephen Miller raised the idea of ending public education and schooling funding for migrant children in a meeting with Texas lawmakers in Washington, which would be a challenge to decades-old U.S. Supreme Court precedent. ... Ending public schoolfor migrant students in Texas would be a major reversal that could be replicated by other red states.'

I respect your good faith interpretation of Joe Kent's resignation, however I am doubtful of his honesty.
Seeing that Joe Kent is now parading with leftists and promoting unproven theories of grievance politics, I feel confident in saying his reasoning for resignation was shallow and his motivations are incredibly unserious.

Trump has deported more Cubans than any other US President, the most Cubans removed since the 1960s. Thousands of them are being dropped in Mexico in cases where Cuba doesn't take them.
'Migrants from Cuba have been in the U.S. for decades...only under Trump have such migrants been targeted for removal.'

U.S. Appeals court sides with Trump on mass detaining tens of thousands of arrested migrants indefinitely, denying them bond hearings and now summarily rejecting attempts at lawful appeals
A second Court of Appeals has sided with President Trump, ICE and the DOJ on mass detaining a massive volume of migrants, making ICE 2-0 in the circuit.

DOJ has quietly gutted a 60-year old migrant assistance program called The Recognition and Accreditation program which allowed non-attorneys such as Catholic Charities representatives to assist immigrants
The program he is referring to has existed for 60 years, but he is upset Trump took 1 year to gut it.
This kind of ungrateful, unrealistic attitude is why it's taken us decades to get anywhere. People like this are not doing anything to help us fix it faster, they're just yelling at the driver while sitting in their carseat.

They are being protected by our unbelievably Corrupt and OUT OF CONTROL Court System! Billions of Dollars are being βhanded overβ to CROOKS, and the Courts wonβt let us do anything about it. Again, EXPEDITE! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Practically all forms of legal migration went down, before Trump's larger restrictions went into effect
Net migration declined by half after only 6 months of President Trump taking office. A significant portion of the recorded immigration during 2025 was under Biden's term (Because of Fiscal Years, which includes Oct-Jan), so the overall drop will be more pronounced for 2026, 2027 under Trump's restrictions.

This is only a census estimate, however the general trend of all available data shows net immigration, legal too, is in decline even without factoring in ICE, travel bans or stricter vetting.

For programs the Trump Admin cannot immediately end, USCIS and DHS have been shown to use regulations as restrictions to cut away at legal status
USCIS head Joe Edlow has been stalling legal immigration processing, causing an uncomfortable situation that leads many migrants to give up and go home, or stop trying to apply at all, or wait indefinitely. Excellent work by USCIS.

The results of government policy tend to show best at a county and state level. Areas that pass immigration enforcement laws will experience better deportation progress, but they need people willing to speak and vote for that to happen. All the talk about the White House needing to do more must be backed up by people at a lower level doing more too, whether through GOP politics, independent lobbying or local law enforcement.

Tom Homan: 'If you think the numbers were good last year, wait 'til this year. I see a lot of language out there saying President Trump is backing off of mass deportations. He is not. (Our numbers are better than the Eisenhower numbers)
We have sanctuary cities and Congress in the way, but we are suing the hell out of those. We will get the numbers we need.'
