1) Fabrication: develop fabrication process recipes for silicon photonics, using electron beam lithgraphy, etching, metalization, specifically on superconducting materials (single photon detectors), non-linear materials (photon pair and squeezed state generation), and electro-optic materials (BTO modulators).
2) Hybrid integration: photonic wire bonding, for integration of quantum well and quantum dot lasers and single photon sources, and other quantum optics devices.
These positions have funding for the next 5 years, from several grants with a focus on quantum photonics applications.
